Guildwars Client for a Mac
some_dude_91
Hi guys,
I'm just wondering why Anet has not come out with a Guildwars client for Mac computers. I'm sure they would have a lot more business if they did. I'm not sure what they have to do to make it because I'm not very into tech stuff... so if somebody can explain to me why it hasnt been made yet, i would very much appreciate it.
Thanks for reading.
P.S. i hope they make a client for mac users for GW2. I would have so much more playing time that way =)

Macs are not known for their Games. They just haven't seen the need to develop a separate version for Mac...it would only slow their development time. Ever try running it through the programs that allow the newer Macs to run Windows XP? That's one way.

i've heard about that... Dual Boot Programs?
i never really got around to that, but it would just make me spend more money and be complicated i'm sure.

because people don't buy Macs to play games, they buy them to do all the other "fun" things you "can't" do with a PC.
That aside, I expect it would be too much work for very little reward, otherwise it would have been done already and thered also be far more games available for Macs.

Mac's make up 5% of the total market share, so producing software for them is an extreme waste of time. I think only Blizzard releases for the Mac, and I'm sure the lose money by doing that as well, I really can't see them making money off the 17~ or so copies they might sell.

lol, yeah because the mac market share is large?
why waste time coding, supporting, testing for such a tiny % of the market?
hint: learn 2 BOOTcamp

Macs are superior, and therefor used primarily, for picture and video editing. They are NOT designed as a gaming platform, and self-respecting gamers do not play on Macs. That said, it is generally a waist of resources and time to develop games for Macs.
If you absolutely must play on a Mac, as stated before - their is software out that will let you run a Windows client on them.

I have only one question
It sounds like in game store and PlayNC are related but not the same thing.
If I purchase through the ingame store does that link me to PlayNC
I will not purchase if the result is that I can not change my game e-mail and password when I wish without going through the hassle PlayNC seems to demand.

I see a lot of people playing WoW on their macbooks at my college. I doubt anet would start reformatting the existing campaigns (or GWEN) for mac at this point, but here's hoping they reconsider for GW2.
I agree with what Muspellshiemr said, Macs aren't designed for videogaming (Though the Macbook Pro seems to hold up pretty well from what I have seen).

Wrong thread, or simply retarded?

They could just use Cider, but there's no point, since if you have an intel based mac you may as well just bootcamp windows anyway.

Does dual booting have any negative effects on sound or graphics?

I'd love to know how GW runs on an intel-Mac using boot camp and XP. Anyone have experience with this?
