I know W/Me Illusionary Weapon builds have been around since the beginning of Guild Wars, but I've recently tried playing one and I do find it really fun. However, being a warrior with low amounts of energy I was wondering if I were to get a zealous sword or axe then would I receive the +1 energy with each attack or does it not trigger when using Illusionary Weaponry? I have a Totem axe that I can use to cast Illusionary Weaponry, but if I could switch to a Zealous axe to spam Flurry then that would rock!
Thanks for the advice.
Question about Illusionary Weapon

IIRC Zealous is +1 Energy Gain On Hit. Which means that it shouldn't work with IW, which makes all your attacks miss.
Coloneh
zealous would only give you -1 energy regen. but Me/W gives you 4 energy regen and more damage.

IW War fails imo.
Mesmer in Need
a primary warrior shouldent use iw imo. a mesmer can do more dmg with it, but they have less armour. something like the me/d mystic iw solves this with different enchantments.

Yeah, IW is terrible on a warrior, and still pretty bad on a mesmer.
You'll find yourself doing much more damage if you actually specced into your weapon.

Thanks for the info. I know W/Me Illusionary Weapon builds arent king, but after having a warrior for the last year and a half its fun to try different things. I only PvE and I really never got into hammer warriors much. I've a lot of different sword and axe builds before so I thought I'd given IW a shot just for kicks.
As long as its not in an enchantment removal area its pretty fun and its DPS is actually pretty decent. So I'm not sure what the other guy was talking about. Illusion at 12 and keeping flurry up as often as possible means -34 dmg per sec. In 5 seconds for fighting an enemy you can do -170dmg that is armor ignoring. I dont disagree that its best to just spec in weapon, but IW in some situations isn't bad if your just looking at DPS and not putting conditions like bleeding and deep wound on enemy.

Nothing wrong with using a W/Me for IW. With the right equipment and skillset, it can be VERY effective. I've had more people than you can imagine blown away by how effective my build is. The advantages obviously using W/Me over Me/W is that you have more armor. I use a +5 energy axe with a 20% longer enchant mod. This makes IW very efficient. If there is one downside it's that it can be stripped. However, I also have 13 points in Axe Mastery so that I can fight without IW if I want. To really be effective, you have to know WHEN to use IW. I never keep it up all the time. I attack Mesmers and Necros first since they usually like to strip enchants. I kill Ele's without IW also since melee damage is usually good enough. Where IW shines is against Rangers with stances and Warriors with high armor, as well as bosses. So I don't usually activate IW until it's time to kill those guys. IW is also very effective when someone blinds you. Used properly IW is a VERY good skill, and a LOT of fun to play with. There is no ultimate build so someone will always discredit yours no matter how effective it may be, which is why I'm not posting mine here. I've given enough information to show you how it can work if used properly. And I'll take an IW W/Me over an IW ME/W anyday.

according to the text on IW u just deal no dmg it says nothing about making your attacks miss

It doesn't say it explicitly but the damage you're dealing is not on hit.

While enchanted with Illusionary Weaponry, you will not gain adrenaline from your attacks, and your attacks will not trigger any bonuses or penalties that normally trigger when you hit, miss, or fail to hit, but will trigger effects which operate "on attack" or "while attacking".

Trust me, zealous mods don't work with IW. You must think of IW as a spell that does it's damage by swinging your weapon. It's nothing more than casting a illusion based damage spell as often as your weapon can make a full swing. You aren't really hitting anything and you'll notice it with the sound your weapon makes, more like a swoosh, than an actual hit.

Zealous Mods do not work in conjunction with IW
Me/W > W/Me ~ if you insist on using IW
Only use a warrior secondary if you want to use flurry, which is quite sweet in conjunction with IW ~ all the speed boost with none of the lost damage (^_-)
IW ~ Illusion of weakness ~ A snare or two like Imagined burden ~ flurry ~ And very importantly channelling works very well as a low cost fast recharge cover enchantment to prevent the stripping of IW.
Watch those wars in RA panic and run from your 60 AL mesmer...

Watch those wars in RA panic and run from your 60 AL mesmer... Me/W over W/Me if you want to killed quicker. Otherwise, W/Me has a much higher survivability rate.
