For some reason, whenever I look at things in the store, All the prices are listed with £ instead of $. I don't even know what £ is, or how that converts to US currency, so how do I fix this problem?

OMG, I want to do the exact opposite!

I'm Australian and I'm stuck having to pay in British Pounds, which is terrible for us! The exchange rate is poo. All the Australians I've spoken to want to pay in American dollars. Because, otherwise, through the online shop, we'd be paying AU$10 more than at EB...

So many other online shops let you choose your currency, why not the online store? By the way, a support ticket is almost useless as they'll just give you a standard response that does nothing to help solve your problem...

Thanks for contacting us regarding the Bonus Mission Pack for Guild Wars.

The Guild Wars Mission Pack will be made available between 11/1/07 - 11/30/07 to all accounts that spend $29 USD (€26/£17) or more in the Official Guild Wars Store in-game. The purchase in question must be made between 12 p.m. PST on 7/5/07 and 12 p.m. PST on 10/31/07.
This promotion is limited to one per account. The Guild Wars Mission Pack is not transferable and will only be available to the exact account that fulfills this promotion.

Hi There,

I currently reside in Canada. If I attempt to make a purchase in the Guild Wars Online Store via the character selection screen, all prices are listed in Euros. I would much prefer to pay in US$ as that currency is much closer to my own.
I have examined the sales area of the PlayNC website, and it appears that I can make purchases there in US$, but I am concerned that if I do so, it will not qualify me for the Bonus Missions promotion offered through the GW Online Store. Any information and assistance you could offer on this matter would be much appreciated.

PS: Attached is a screen shot of the PlayNC store with me logged in. I can provide a screen shot of the GW Online store later. Note that the Play NC store allows one to choose to buy the euro version or the US$ version. And that the default page it takes me to is the US$ one. I strongly feel that the GW Online store should have a feature similar to the PlayNC one that allows a choice between Euro version and North American Version. Failing that I would like to have my account reflect that I am a resident of North America.
As you can see, they pretty much ignored the first paragraph of my letter. Sort of a half assed answer if you ask me. I immediately followed up with a response to clarify that I would like to have the currency I see in the online store changed.... still waiting for a reply. I'm hoping one will come today.

That's what my support ticket got me. I responded with I'm NOT British. And asked them about why Australians have to pay in Pounds cause it's quite obvious we're nowhere near England. Still no response. Wonderful!

I've also never used PlayNC and I don't even know what my Master Account is!!!

Funny that. I'm not in Europe. I'm in Canada. The OP is in Chicago (according to their guru tag). Why is the OP being charged in pounds, and why am I being charged in Euros?



As you can see from my logged in account page on PlayNC, my master account clearly indicates that I am located in North America. I've deleted the personal info for the purpose of the forum, but I've also sent in unaltered screenshots to support. If the reply Onarik received is any indication, then clearly there is a problem with how they are looking at my account.

Im currently assigned to Euro servers, used to be in American servers and im in Canada.
been gone for a few months now from the game. reading this, I just checked my ingame store and mine still displayed in US$...hmmm.

Already PM'd gaile with a link to this thread and to another thread I started before this one came up. It's been two days since I sent in a follow-up support ticket... If I don't hear back from them tonight I'll send another follow-up ticket. I just want all this sorted before GW:EN is released so I can buy it without being charged extra just because the online store can't recognize where I am. In all honesty, there really should be an option in the store to select the currency of yur choice (like the PlayNC store).

I found this statement by gaile on the official wiki:
"As I understand it, our publisher, NCsoft Europe, is the one who determines pricing for products offered through or for Europe or European players."

Which once again begs the question, why am I, a North American, being asked to pay the European prices? I live in North America. I play on the North American servers. Please let me pay the North American prices.

Not worth my time to moan and complain. If you won't re-assure me that my legitimate problem isn't being taken care of, then good luck trying to squeeze $40 out of me when the Guild Snores expansion comes out.
