That's like saying giving people bigger wallets will make them richer because it will encourage them to make more money.

Most people would just be glad for the extra space. And the hardcore farmer would farm no matter what size their storage is.

Or how about people like me who want to pvp with our pve characters but need several weapon/armor sets before we can realistically?

I missed the whole event but still have a mostly full storage...I had to come up with ways to free up space, such as keeping warrior stuff with my warrior, monk stuff with my monk, mesmer stuff with mesmer, etc. instead of keeping it all in the storage.

The bottom line is that making a larger storage would NOT encourage more farming or anything else like that. If a farmer wants more space they can use one character slot as a mule, or 2, or 3 slots. On the other hand, those pack rats that want more space would fill up any extra space they were given and then be craving more. I know this is true because it happens to me.

Think about when you were pre-searing, we all got by with just that little belt pouch and the main inventory. Then you get to post-searing and you suddenly triple your storage capacity, and guess what? It fills up faster than you could have imagined.

If A-net added more storage space we would all horde more items and fill it up faster than when we went post-searing...

I have played that other online game, wOw or something, and there is much more storage space on my character. Is it full? Dang near full all the time! But go figure that I keep coming back to a game that has less storage. The trade-off for better game play and game ingenuity is well worth it for me.

It really comes down to being happy with what you have. Thanks to A-net for making a truly great game and NOT charging us a monthly fee to play it, and for continually making it better!

Wrong! So Wrong. There were 200 districts with ppl yelling Go Dwayna/Grenth!

If you did read for yourself the topic of the poster was stating that there wasnt enough storage space, please read for yourself what he posted as the first post.

He was saying there was not enough room in storage because of all the event items. So he was saying two things, one was there wasnt enough space, two was there was too many event items.

serious storage problems when you create collectible items in HUGE numbers like that.
I do programming myself and believe me, if it was not for all the people who complained about whats wrong with what I made I wouldn't be the better programmer I am today. ANET has stated that they are able to improve the game because of the things people don't like. I don't know why people take something so simple as stating the Storage is too small and turn it into World War 3 and make it like where all pack rats and idoits for having a lot of items.

Maby it would be best if a mod closed this tread or better yet deleted it, since people have gotten the wrong idea.

If you find the holiday items too numerous you are free to throw them away.

Alternatively Anet can just stop organising holiday events, your choice.

I second the idea for the larger storage box though. The stash holds a grand total of 20 items, not very impressive if you ask me, considering a set of 15K armor will need like almost 2 stacks of one primary materials *each*, and numerous others.

Of course the truly rich who got there by scamming newbies at beacons have no such worries, they can just throw all their drops away and buy their materials straight up from the trader.

Ouch, flame wars.

ANYWAY

I love the holiday events, although Halloween was my favorite. As for the present greed - if you were in a Dwayna District, it got ugly. The presents that dropped in a circle around the avatar every few seconds started wars between people that were camping "their" spots. Lots of name calling and general rudeness. Woe be unto the person that showed up a little late. My guild was being cheesy and taking a holiday screenshot with all of us, and it was hard to not get one without the local chat bubbles in the background ripping people new ones.

Yeah, I'm a packrat too. I gave away all of my eggnogs and spiked eggnogs to a guildie who gave me all of his candy canes, collector items, and snowman summoners. Those were what I chose to keep. I also got rid of the upgrades that were no where near perfect or desirable that I haven't been able to sell. These events force me to clean house. I only kept a santa hat on one char and horns for another, because space is an issue. Yeah - i still have halloween items on one char (that i don't use as much).

All in all, it was fun. I liked the quests, the snowball arena, etc. Good job! PS - the candy cane bow rules (that's the only candy crafted item that i chose to get).

as i pointed out in a later post (which i don't know y it's gone now), i dont mean the day of the final event, i mean the days b4 that. From what i observed, during the Halloween event, ppl tended to stay around LA's round green area chilling and dancing almost everyday until the decorations were removed, but during the Wintersday, ppl only came together on the day of the final event.

or it coulde be that i have a couple of each item to enjoy looking at for the rest of the time that the game is around. its a COLLECTION. i dont collect shotglasses in RL from places ive been to seel them some day. i look at my around 60 shotglasses and go oh hey i remember when i got that. which is just what ill do someday with the holiday event items.

and if they did make a holiday event item box. that would be awesome.

Making more storage available in the future: quite possible.

The idea of having a special "collectible event items" storage space ... well, it certainly appeals to me! There's ... 20+ special event items combined between Halloween and Wintersday, and my Monk gets to cart them all around. Poor fellow is beginning to think he's a beast of burden.

A lack of storage space is certainly something we hear about a lot, so it's definitely something that the design team will spend some time thinking about.

i dont think that LOOKS like 25+ of ANY item. nowhere did i say that i had hundreds of any item. i have a few of each item. maybe next wintersday ill bust out a snowman summoner from this year. who knows. this image isnt even ALL of the items because i took this capture before i had ALL of them. had to farm a bit for more cc shards to get the rest of the weapons.

Alex, even a seperate Armor Vault would help tremendously!

I have 4 sets of armor (15k Necrotic, 8k Scars, FoW armor, and a cheaps scar 55 build set) that I use depending on the situation.

Honestly I'd still like to get my Collectors armor and a few Cultist and misc armor pieces for looks.

Then we have my 5 wands, and 4 focii.....

I like the idea of a armour vault in guildhalls so you just travel there to get your armour out for a different situation, as it is any extra storage would be good.

I don't have 4 sets on a character just 2 for my monk, but i also have a 3 headpieces for different builds.

A holiday bag would be good too as over the next few years it's going to start taking up a lot of space when they hold great events like wintersday.

But i think gaile said more storage was likely to happen.

I didn't do any of the quests, thought the snowball fights were cool, and found the gifts, weapons, and off-hands to be entertaining until I discovered the power of Candy Canes and am on a mad scramble to get as many as I can in the days remaining. I think I am gonna scream when I log on and am told there is a new build of Guild Wars available. Those Candy Canes will sure come in handy in the months ahead....

Now that theres no more reason for "flame wars" I guess I gota say thanks to Alex Weekes and the rest of NCSoft and ANET for thinking about this!

An extra armor vault would be nice, even a weapon one, or a set type of vault where you can store a full armor set and a weapon set, ect... Who knows, very nice ideas though!

"Those Candy Canes will sure come in handy in the months ahead...."
Believe me, you me and everyone else who has these things are going to need them in the months to come, any big quests or farming we do and die we can get our dp the boot!

the problem with that comment is that its not valid. in guild wars farmers would absolutely LOVE bigger wallets. right now they HAVE to invest in items to get more than 1.400.000 gold

I was addressing an invalid comment about how more storage space would only encourage people to farm more. That is simply not true. The hardcore farmer will farm no matter what. And having more storage space won't suddenly make the people who hate farming to love it just because of more space.

I just don't think that the remote possibility of encouraging farming is a valid excuse to not give more storage space.

I must say that, considering with all the work you all have with Chapter 2, i'm impressed you pulled off an amazing event like this

And storage space, yeah MORE, please! Guild Hall storage space is a great idea! I just hope the storage spaces will be individual storage spaces, with options to share items with the guild.. just worried people will get into arguments too often otherwise.

Oh btw, i'm definitely buying Chapter 2!

Gaile, I loved this event too, but please pass on my humble and completely non-inflammatory request NOT to put the next event finale on a day when the majority of people wont be playing. In this particular case new years day would've been a much better choice than new years eve. Or perhaps extend/repeat the finale several days.

yes, since the hats and antlers were customised, i couldnt get a spare set for my best friend...

*agreeing with Numa about a 48 hour event over 2 days so everyone can attend*

i, like many folks have stuff left over from hallowen as well as the now passed wintersday
*gota say, though....looking forward to any spring/summer/autum(fall) fests you might be working on^^, i always love a game party*
so...even a 25 slot event store would be welcome, my poor ranger-girl is languishing in ascalon city with enough bagage to make here a henchman-in-training....(Nodwick reference)

i would also sugest spreading the events out to ascalon city and droknars forge when they go down...take the strain off of getting into districts on the main event nights....33 dist in english euro when i got my yule hat, and i wasnt even planning on dist-jump for more lol....

and the armour-store in guild hall, hmm....
still...hope ou guys *and everyone who made the event, too* had a great new year, cause we nuts that stayed in for Wintersday loved it

Uninstall your game because you don't NEED it. This is a GAME and it is about FUN not about necessity. If people have fun collecting quirky looking items then don’t rag on them for that. It is not all bout greed. You can’t sell your hats because they are customized to you. If you can’t understand the humor of dancing with your pumpkin hat in the middle of May in SF with 10 dudes pounding on you, you might as well move on because it sounds like you are taking this GAME too seriously.

Obviously ANet agrees if they are giving holiday storage. Is there a time line on this? I have all the holiday items and I am not running out of space, but I would like to have some extra for materials and good weapons for other people.

Wintersday was great, and I thought is was better than Holloween. BTW Just like everything the GW santa hats look SOOO much better that the WOW santa hats.

You have to be creative with storage space. One thing I did was to use my very first PvE character (who almost unlocked the complete skill set for 3 classes, by buying them when skills were cheap) as a collectables/crafting material 'mule' as well as a PvP character. All but 2 of his inventory spaces are filled, yet I can still use him to play. Waste not want not.

on the storage for guilds id say that the person who puts in an item to share with the guild would have to give word to a person boring it. the person could not take an item without their word. u could also have if an item is taken that person may not leave the guild so they can not run off with an item. and to finish i think that the person who lent out the item could have it come back to them instantly at any moment if they dont trust the person using it. any ideas or thoughts on this idea??? good bad any improvements???

Man I hope its more than quite possible, particularly with the expansion.
Guild storage too, great way to pass stuff around.

But even more important at least 4 [if not 6] more character slots!

Trying the combinations/getting all the unlocks, playing with others through the game, having availability for using those unlocks with PvP characters...

If there's a key for the expansion for me (and my wife's account), that's it.
Well and obviously all the fun stuff it should bring too

I think Sun here may have gone to some random district where there were like 2 people hanging around. Dist 27(the original American grenth district) and the first 10 or so districts were filled wit ppl hanging around and talking.

Right now my warrior is filled wit holiday stuff and just acts as a mule. Oh well, tis the price u pay for fun :''''(

Defintely this was a great event but anet u really coulda extended the event till 3 AM for the insomniac in most of us [i saw like several hundred ppl by quick switching thru districts in la at 3 waiting for Dwayna or Grenth after they got home for New Year's Eve]
