aside from the cheaper price for the extra character slot...there's that whole thing about it being a
PRE-release pack...thus it would only be available prior to release of nightfall. So why would they offer it after the release...it makes no sense. Their purpose is to give the game developers and retailers an idea of how many people will be buying the game...offering it after the release just doesn't make sense. Also people like me who bought them when they were made available the first time wouldn't particularly like it. Buy it when they are first available...don't complain because you missed out.
I don't think we'll have any shortage of stuff to buy from the online store in the near future. It's in Anet's best interest to get stuff up there for people to buy...so why wouldn't they? My bet is we'll see a lot of stuff put up there around GW:EN's release date...
personally I'll get the bonus pack via buying both the pre-release pack for GW:EN and GW:EN itself online for both of my accounts. I don't really need a CD or manual....I have enough of that crap clogging my room right now.
I see the following items making an appearance in the online store:
-Skill pins: I don't care for them really...but I could see how people would buy them up. Got two with my Nightfall CE...all they do is collect dust though.
-Maps of the campaigns/expansion: I would bet these would be the hottest selling items...I know I would probably pick up one of each map. Hopefully they would be cloth maps or at least some high quality vinyl or something...something more than paper.
-Swag besides skill pins: again I don't think I'd buy hats, shirts, mousepads (don't need one...trackball user)
