Any new items coming to the Guild Wars Store before November?
LumpOfCole
I'm highly interested in the mission pack, and if nothing else is going to come out I suppose I'll pick up the Nightfall PvP pack and get all those skills for my heroes.
However, if something like "Game of the Year" packs are going to come out for Factions or Nightfall or something that add weapons, I sure would like to know. That or any other products coming to the virtual store between now and when the promotion ends.

I don't think they're having goty for nf or factions, which is odd. I read that theyre looking at this to put in the store, they just dont know what yet....or at least we dont :O
notskorn
gw:en is coming out before november...
LadyNilene
I really hope they do add something more to the online store than what they have now...didn't they make a poll somewhere on guru on what items we would buy from them i.e. posters, plushies, etc? What ever happened to that idea?

Gaile has stated that she has notified a number of higher ups about this concern. That doesn't mean they will change it, but the concern was passed on by her.
Cherno
Gaile said that the prerelease bonus pack and GWEN would both be available through the store. GWEN by itself is wha you need to qualify for the bonus packs.
Matfei
I plan to purchase the GW:EN pre-release and GW:EN itself through the store. I dont see what could entice me to get the boxed version except maybe a map of the new region (far north). In that case i'll split the cost of the boxed version with a mate, keep the tidbits I want, and let him have the key.
So I'm set for the mission pack
So I'm set for the mission pack
MMSDome
hope they get something different and cool besides GWEN because I dont want to buy 3 char slots even though i need them :/

I'd like to see them start selling t-shirts, or plushies or something, like was hinted at before. The mission pack sounds great, but I'd much prefer a boxed copy of GW:EN, and I have no use for the character slots.
I'm not going to cry about it, like a lot of other people, but yeah, some other items to buy in the store would certainly solve the problem for me.

I was thinking about this, and I think I know why they are doing this with the mission pack. And makes some sense.
Since CE's of all 3 chapters can't be purchased in the online store they wanted to implement some CE like for GWEN without being like the other CE ( since alot of people with CE's complained about what the CE came with ) and on top of that make it exclusive for the online store...memories of the Factions CE being delayed come to mind.
Originally I bet they planned on having a normal GWNE version and a CE version as well, and the release was going to be in November. And because of complaints about previous CE's they decided to add some fun little quests instead.
But then there would be a CE version shortage concern to go with that. To eliminate that problem and have a earley release of GWEN as well as access to CE type of material for the masses they're going this route. Also it helps promote the online store.
This is just a theory. But I believe doing it this way helps the masses.
People still want to able to upgrade their old chapters to CE, people with CE's don;t want everyone to have CE's, people with CE's complained about their CE's, and CE got delayed in past or were in short supply.
In the end they thought they had a great idea and peo[ple still complained cause they either never or can;t use the online store. Either way I see it as a way to give people a chance to get more material in a more efficiant way then making ### of copies of botha normal GWEN and a CE GWEN.
Besides that I too would like to see more items in the online store. I remember that old thread where Gaile asked what we wanted and I replied with merchandise like posters, t-shirts, junk like that.
But i am tempted to get a pvp version of something. Got to see which campaign I'm low on skills from.

I think the skill pins would sell like there's no tomorrow. Dunno y anet doesn't sell them in retail packets.
Of course, buying them via the online store may be a bit unlikely, as it seems only digital stuff is sold in it.

Might as well sell the minipets and dances from the CE's, too.

I can understand the want for more things in the online store but lets think about it.
The Pin set are supposed to be collector items, which means they should be more rare and hard to get. Putting them here would kinda defet that purpose.
The Nightfall prerelease package would be nice, but since Nightfall is out, selling it now would hardly constitute it being a prerelease.
I am not opposed to new stuff comming in the online store, but remember the char slots are still there (I have 8, 10 might be nice but unessessary) and the prerelease package for GW:EN ($5) and the game itself ($40) surely makes up the amout needed for Bonus mission pack. It doesn't take a marketing expert to see that ANEt wants to increase revenue by decreasing the packaging costs related to the Expansion pack.

I would like 1 different set of skill pins to go along with my nf skill pins=D. Ones that are only available through the store.

I don't think we'll have any shortage of stuff to buy from the online store in the near future. It's in Anet's best interest to get stuff up there for people to buy...so why wouldn't they? My bet is we'll see a lot of stuff put up there around GW:EN's release date...
personally I'll get the bonus pack via buying both the pre-release pack for GW:EN and GW:EN itself online for both of my accounts. I don't really need a CD or manual....I have enough of that crap clogging my room right now.
I see the following items making an appearance in the online store:
-Skill pins: I don't care for them really...but I could see how people would buy them up. Got two with my Nightfall CE...all they do is collect dust though.
-Maps of the campaigns/expansion: I would bet these would be the hottest selling items...I know I would probably pick up one of each map. Hopefully they would be cloth maps or at least some high quality vinyl or something...something more than paper.
-Swag besides skill pins: again I don't think I'd buy hats, shirts, mousepads (don't need one...trackball user)

Their purpose is to give the game developers and retailers an idea of how many people will be buying the game...offering it after the release just doesn't make sense. Also people like me who bought them when they were made available the first time wouldn't particularly like it. Buy it when they are first available...don't complain because you missed out.

and why wouldn't you like it if other people got it? its the same price ffs. talk about being selfish eh? buy it when it was available.... fyi i never saw any in the stores i go to around here... Some weren't sent enough, and some just didn't get any o.O and i dont think people who ordered in the gw store before had any way to get it, did they?

Why not ask for the collectors editions item be put up for sale...it's the same kind of thing...limited edition...
Did they offer Nightfall in the online store the day of release? I can't remember. People who ordered in the online store were able to buy the pre-release packs from local retailers...GW:EN is going to be the first where they offer the pre-release pack in the online store.
And again I'll go back to the fact that it is a limited edition item...they print off a certain number and then stop...if your local retailer didn't have any that's because they didn't expect to get a lot of preorders, if any. Besides...there were stores on the internet selling them as well...stores that weren't the GW Online store.
They don't offer the past pre-release packs in the online store for the same reason they don't offer the collector's edition in the online stores....they are limited edition....limited in some way...whether it be a release date or some arbitrary number they think up at Anet or NcSoft.
oh and if you bring up the Game of the Year Edition they have available...it's available because that edition came out after many people had already purchased the game....the fact that they purchased the game is what made it the game of the year....so they offered the pack so people who already owned it could get it without having to buy another account.
Miral
ok but what does it hurt to offer the spear, scythe, and slot in the store? i can understand not printing more prerelease packs than they think they will need because of not wanting to print physical items and wasting resources... but there is no waste in putting it in the online store.
obviously collectors edition stuff is different in that its meant to be a collectors item... but then i wouldn't mind the digital parts of it being available and just the physical stuff for collections...

Miral...you just don't get that like the collector's editions...the prerelease packs are limited editions too...and they should not be released for exactly the same reasons. That includes everything available in the pack (the character slot being the exception of course). Have you seen any weapons using the skins from either the soulbreaker or the sunspear? As far as I can tell they are unique skins...making them collector items. If the skins were available through drops I'd agree with you that they are not collector items...but since they are unique I have to disagree.
Thought I'd point out this little bit I noticed in the PAX announcement today on the Guild Wars site:

how about we release the factions collectors items as a pack in the online store...except make Kunna Red instead of Green...and change the type of spirits that dance behind the Ritualists and Assassins
or how about we release the nightfall collectors items as a pack in the online store....except change the mini to Varesh with a different outfit on and have a set of spot lights for the dances instead of a disco ball and little sparkler (same dances though)
same thing...it still devalues the original pack...
just accept the fact that you missed out on a one time offer and make sure you buy the preorder packs from now on...ok? Jesus.
