I'm trying to download guild wars, but at the first part where it's trying to connect, before I even create anything, the first part it stops like 3/4 the way.

It doesn't matter what chapter you have.
I am no expert, BUT look at your taskbar... seems like Norton has an exclamation mark. If you can't connect to ANET, it has to be because your firewall is stopping you, or perhaps Norton is. Try clicking on it, there might be a way there to allow GW to access the internet.
