Been out for a few months due to serious boredom.
Back now though.

Anyway, I just felt to hang around today, chat with random people, dance, strip etc. all the stuff pre-searing used to be great for. So I went back to pre-searing: just a single district! Hardly any chat apart from the 'omg need help on quest/gate opening/pleveling'.

Same for droks, which used to be 20 districts minimum.
2 districts.

Anyway, I know this is not a new problem. But when I look at every single major problem, I see that it all comes down on: too many different things to do; too little people, so nothing gets done at all.

And with GW:EN/GW2 this will only increase even further.

It's very nice and all that Anet is coming up with new stuff. But since everything gets abused, or is bugged, or underpopulated, I'd rather see that they'd focus on improving the current game, than on rushing out another expansion.

Offcourse Anet is a company, they want to make money.
But when everyone I know irl has quit guildwars because they were bored with it, and my entire friend list is offline, it seems obvious that this is causing people to stop playing.

Perhaps Anet could offer armour, gold, good weapons etc. in the webshop to make money, and spent their time on improving the quality instead of the quantity. Because there already is loads to do, its just that everything becomes boring because you can't find the people and have to wait hours for a party, or try with heroes, who have the A.I. of a cucumber.

Hard mode was an absolutely wonderfull idea, it enhanced the game, providing more challenge for those who sought new ones, and it is exactly what I mean by improving quality instead of quantity.

Anet will never focus on quality > quantity, their whole business model is based on quantity > quality. There's really nothing to be done. Either accept it, or move on to other games like your friends have.

Presear usually has quite a few districts, it was probably just a slow day.

As for Droks, ever since they nerfed troll farming the place has been desolate compared to the old days. It's also no longer a large centre of trade since LA, as the map travel warp spot, has become the biggest trade hub in prophecies.

Undercity... shhh dont tell Gaile =P

Back to Medieval Assassins [MA]

namely because the lack of monthly fee's they need to keep their profits up some how...so sacrificing quality of the game i.e. regular maintainence, bug fixes, etc etc for more things campaigns, unlock packs, character slots. its a sorta...they can and cant be blamed for it.

on one hand they were the ones who had the idea of free monthly play... so they had to of seen the lack of profit they could have ultimately made down the road and with more profit comes more resources (in game assistance or GM's, regular maintainence and bug fixes etc etc) basically things that require more manpower. so thus to keep from going bankrupt and making our poor gaile sell oranges on the street corner they hafta keep releasing these campaigns/expansions.

on the other hand they cant be blames because.... most of us chose to play this game because of the lack of monthly fee's so it had to of been known before even installing the game it wasnt gonna have as many of the features as games like WoW may have.

the basis of their market was as it was said in the pc gamer article "no monthly fee's" which is an awesome idea for getting a fan base but in the end it may very well be the stake that peirces the heart.

edit: as for being off topic i digress....
i still see presear with an average of 3 districts or so. as its been said coulda been a slow day or maybe everyone was too busy with the sit strike....?

droks died looong loooooooong ago with the troll farming and it makes me sad....i love the droks envoirment with the snow and the short people....like gods lil punchlines =D

My whole constructive and coherent reply flew right out the window when you suggested they sell gold and armor in the store.

It's all the different continents that screws population, as you said yourself, too many places to be with too little people. But then they can't really improve a single place due to their business model. I do hope they solve this problem in GW2, so there wont be 20 expansions/campaigns or whatever.

pre usually has around 5 districts. But i dont get why there was 20 dis at droks. Before factions i remember 4 lol. But most of the people are in kamadan/lions/kaineng selling....or somewhere farming or doin a mission. People rarely sit and talk in places other thean pre from what ive seen lately.

you cant blame anyone really. Hard mode bought people back to old places but not much. there are 3 contineents so you would expect the players to be spread out.
everytime a enw game comes out it brings more people to the new areas and out of the old. more people will be at certtain points in the game depending on how long the game has been out. nightfall has been out about 8 months so theres some places no ones at. when it was first released there was alot

sadly people will eventually stop playin in elona and go to gw:en. but people will always go back to the continent to get titles

I agree, when I first heard of factions coming out, I tought right away that having new campaings out was the worst that could happen to gw, it made me quit for a while and most of my friends too, cause, yeap, you said it, there are so lil amount of districts now days, and there might be so many things to do, but it makes it annoying sometimes cause you can't focus on one thing because there are never enaugh players doing it.

/agree on everysingle word you said.

PvE: Great part of the game. Anet is doing very well with it, can't really see anything wrong, bugs are good imo unless its those ones that stop you from completing a quest cause that can be really really annoying. Will get boring after you've pretty done EVERYTHING in it (including getting all armor sets for all classes and discovered all areas both in hard mode and regular mode along with maxing out your gold and getting all titles) but it's very doubtful that you will actually complete all these things in your free time unless you have no life in which case you should probably get one and stop making Anet buff skills in order to see "more variety with builds" and screwing over the PvP community in the end. Which brings me to PvP where all the "bored" PvEers go to waste my time, but also give me free faction.

PvP: Anet hates the PvP community I concluded. Imagine PvP and PvE were both names of twins. Now with twins (this is based on nothing so don't take what i say about twins to be true, this is jsut a hypothetical situation), you usually have one that has more common sense than actual school smartness and one that has more school smarts than actual common sense. In this case, PvE has neither and PvP has both. Now when you have a set of twins like this you of course want to encourage your smarter child, but you definitely don't want to ignore your braindead one. Now most parents won't be able to find a balance (hey kind of like Anet and skills :P) and will pay too much attention to the dumber one because they feel it needs more attention since it is less likely to have friends and such, it being so "special." They think since the smarter child is sooooooooooo smart that it can really just fend for itself, but gives it small presents now and then (or what they think are presents). Now this gets the parents some attention too since they chose the retarded child to pay attention to, such as: handi-cap parking(the child is retarded and in a wheelchair now btw), free cuts in line on rides at amusement parks, hell free money as well to fund their kid's medication for his retardation or something...anyway, lots of benfits for them. Oh hey, what happened to the genius kid? Meh who cares, they will fend for themselves, well we might as well throw them a bone, let's call that bone the AT's. Yeah they don't need that other toy we bought them when they were first born called The Ladder. They won't care about that toy, it's so old and boring! The AT's offer them so much like: more pugging; less actual guilds; specified times to play where 20 guilds sign up and then 15 forfeit; oh and let's not forget the farmers who use and abuse the dumb skills that were buffed specifically for PvE's usage because you know you can't forget about your retarded child!

You see, what makes this game suck is the lack of attention givin to all aspects of this stupid game. If all Anet did was take out the ATs and just put back the ladder, about half of the players that left the game would join it again.

Enough said I think.

yea, i really miss the old day busy trading/farming in Droks, that was really fun. However, when title introduced to the GW, it seems like GW started to become a grind game slowly day by day, which is very sad

For everything there is to do in PvE, most of it is just the same stuff dressed up differently (quests), and you pretty much have 2 options: Beat the campaigns with a character, do hard mode if you choose, although that's not everyone's cup of tea and really is doing the same thing over again.. then once you've done that, do it all over again with another character, and then another.. other option is to do elite missions. Again, it's doing the same thing over, day after day. Once you've mastered them, it becomes boring very quickly. The enemies require the same pattern to be defeated and that never changes. At least with PvP, you get different opponent setups every time. The fix for this is coming out with new campaigns, because while it really is the same thing we've done before, they add new characters, different looking areas, it has the appearance of being different. They really shot themselves in the foot by canceling this last installment and making everyone wait another 6 months for the next "fix". They lost alot of customers over that because it's difficult to stay interested in the same exact product day after day for a year. Some may come back when GWEN comes out, but I'd imagine most have moved on and won't look back.

Comeon there is still lots to do, you just look at the wrong places for the wrong things. People only want to endlessly repeat stuff when there is some reward bound to that, otherwise the news gets old pretty soon. New contents need to be added as we want new challenges, we don't wanna fight the offspring of dimdim and yapyawl all the time.

Chances are, the team that you do find will have less I. Q. than a cucumber, so you are better off with heroes.

This is one of the reasons places are deserted.
Pugs>Hench - A lot of missions are hard to do with only hench, so people pugged.
Heroes>Pugs>Hench - This is the problem right here, why wait 2 hours for a team when chances are, the heroes are 10x better anyway? This problem is even amplified by all decent players being able to H+H through the game, leaving only people who are equal, if not worse than hench.

Other causes of places being deserted:
More campaigns.
Change of community.
Titles.

more places to go means less places to stay. 100 people in 1 town will seem more crowded than 10 people in 10 towns, etc.

I remember during the Christmas event there were over 200 in Kamadan! You can't say that no one is playing with those kinds of numbers. Most of the issue, as has been mentioned before, is that the world is just too spread out for most places to fill up. LA, Kamadan, and Kaineng seem to get a little busier though.

Theres no reason to play this game through 27 times, the PvE just isnt worth it, neither is grinding a lot of the titles... its hard to push myself through all 3 campaigns more than once... economy has been f-tarded since factions (debatably before but I completely lost hope for it then)... ANET/GW devs have not really encouraged any long-time player base (they actually imho seem to frown on it)... just my opinion.
