Rt/Me Tengu & Skale Farming!
pnumm
Soo, you've always wanted to farm those pesky little Silverwing-wannabes? Here is your chance!
To farm Tengu, I use a standard VwK Rt build with both Elemental and Physical Resistance (yes I know they cancel out each other)
[skill]Vengeful Was Khanhei[/skill][skill]Arcane Echo[/skill][skill]Vengeful Weapon[/skill][skill]Soothing Memories[/skill][skill]Physical Resistance[/skill][skill]Elemental Resistance[/skill]
Attributes are 12+1+3 Resto Magic, and 9-12 inspiration Magic. Depends on what you are going to use on your optional slots, suggestions are welcome.
The weapons:
The Armor: Take Heralds Insiginia on every armor piece, 1 rune of Sup Restoration Magic, and pack the rest with Vitae/Vigor runes.
The run:
Before aggroing the Tengu, make sure you have physical Resistance and Arcane Echo up. If there are Wilds in the group, make sure you cast VwK just before you aggro, else they will either shatter your echo or they will interrupt your VwK.
While fighting the group, make sure you spam vengeful weapon, and cast Soothing Memories when health gets low. For safety, you can also cast Soothing Memories just before VwK to make sure your heal gets interrupted instead of your VwK.
Whenever you face Fire Imps or Inferno Imps, make sure you have Elemental resistance up. Try not to face Imps and Tengu at the same time.
Skales should go down pretty quickly despite their hex-heavy build, and you don't need to put up an armor buff.
Obviously, the run should be done in Hard Mode.

nice one. are sv and av really required for this build or can they be swapped? gonna go and try build out now
pnumm
They aren't really useful, haven't found any substitutes though.
Fuzzy Taco
nice tribal axe. great build, i've never tried to farm those guys (i hate the wilds. :P) but your build looks great for the purpose. great job!
AscalonWarrior
Looks great, gonna try it now

I forgot to say that you should watch out for the patrols. Never let a second group join you in the fight when you are past halfway your 2nd VwK.

This is what happens when things go wrong:P

Fire Imps go down very easily.

Is Vampirism just experimental, or do you actually use it?
pnumm
Errr, it helped when you needed to run away for any kind of reason (they attack the spirit before returning to you) It was kinda useful, but there is probably some more useful stuff out there.

just another spot i like to share or add. i'm sure we all know this. Run from the town to the zone then zone and run back to the town. sell off whites and repeat.
thanks for the build pnumm

royal mercenary
yes fishermens heaven.. thought of it asswell when i was running sanctum...
there really a lot of scals outside there
just make sure to keep distance cause they got chilibans (for arcane echo)

I was doing a tengu/skale/fire imp/white mantle run when factions came out obviously not in hard mode then by starting at riverside province. I would clear all of twin serpent lakes, tears of the fallen, and finally stingray stand. I used a build pretty close to this one but I don't know if that run is still possible after the AoE flee nerf and the higher dmg rates of creatures in hard mode. The thing is though even in normal mode that run yielded a lot of charcoal and feathers. I might have to see if i can pull it off in hard mode.

Looks like a great build! Mind posting a video if possible? The screens are great but a video would be much more helpful.

This is quite profitable now, when feathers sell for 200g to merchants

I know huh!!

I tried to farm this build and got some conlusions after one day farming.
This build is great, works excellent but drops are not worth to use it in Prophecies Campaign areas. I killed in one run over 120 mobs and got only 5 golds and one necro tome after all. Even killing bosses (pretty easy on there) i got nothing else then gold or some white or blue crap. To compare farming raptors in GWEN gives 1 - 3 golds per run with inscriptions as well. This run is nice to farm feathers cuz one full stack you can sell for 5250 g at the moment. This is my sugestion to fill two empty skill slots: [skill]Ether signet[/skill] gives you additional energy when needed [skill]Power return[/skill] I use it only to interrupt Tengu warrior boss Nav Sharpquill when he uses Healing signet. Otherwise killing him is hard or impossible. Has anybody tested this build in GWEN or NF areas?? Thanks for any ideas Big_Daddy
Excellen Build, but I must confess those Caromi Wild really screwed me up sometimes. Is there any way to attack/Kill them first? Any suggestions?
snoozer80
They are easy to kill even if there are two in one group. When i agro group with Caromi wild i use Sothing memories and its interrupted so i got 15 seconds without interrupting cuz [skill]cry of frustration[/skill] got 15 sec recharge time. Until it recharged Caromi wild should be dead.
I tried to farm with this build in other palces in GW and it works great. Big_Daddy
What other places are good for farming with this?

How do you manage to interrupt a Signet with a "Spell & Chant"-Only interrupt? Did you mean something other than Power Return?
Mr.Kotte
How many feathers do you get per run apx? And how long does one run take to complete? Currently Farming Essences of Celebrety (ahem on spelling), and you need those friggin feathers for the lootie .
Big_Daddy
I take around 25 - 30 mins per run (being a noob on this build, I take my time pulling), and I get an average of 35 feathers + 7-10 caromi scapls. So all in all you can say I get 60-70 feathers per run.
BTW, I only farm the Caromi. snoozer80
Yeah i was wrong. [skill]Power return[/skill] doesnt work with signets. I use then [skill]Complicate[/skill].

BTW, I only farm the Caromi. You should farm all the imps and enough skales to fill your inventory as well. It's worth doing. I farm the 3-4 groups of Fire Imps outside of D'Alessio, then I move onto the Tengu in a clockwise manner, taking out the first running group, then head to the small corridor to the other area and take out that group of 4-8, then I head up along the edge to the left side boss spawn. After that I head back down and take out the middle and all of the mobs around the next boss on the right, then I take out the boss. Note, I skip the monk and elementalist bosses unless I've already passed by the rez shrine near the Fire Imps, which I generally don't do until after clearing the Tengu. The monk boss should just be skipped, the ele boss isn't too difficult to take out but make sure he and his sole guard (who will deal physical damage, always) are the only mobs you pull. Put on Elemental Resistance and stay away so that Vengeful always hits the Warrior/Ranger. Keep up Elemental Resistance and use Ether Signet and a high energy set if you need to so that you can keep Soothing and Vengeful up and healing you. Once I finish off all of the Tengu I take out the Fire Imps through the road to the rez shrine, then I head north and take out the Bog Skales and the boss spawn. Then I head to the swamp and finish off filling my inventory there. I normally get a few Charcoal drops and at least 120 or so feathers a run. When I'm not lootscaled I get 5-8 golds. The scalps are good to salvage but I'm considering saving a couple stacks for Halloween. Another great drop from this run is the Fins. They're pretty easy to sell to people looking to finish the Black Moa quest, and I generally find people buying for 500 per Fin. I don't see how you can get 35 feathers, seeing as they drop in increments of 19-21. Drop rates of materials per drop: Feathers 19-21 Charcoal 4-6 Scales 5-9 You must be doing this run on Normal Mode, which is a complete waste of time. philo
Masao, you seem to be doing this run on a regular basis. Care to tell us which optional skills have turned out to be the most useful for you? Thx
Masao
I use the following build.
[skill]Vengeful Was Khanhei[/skill][skill]Vengeful Weapon[/skill][skill]Physical Resistance[/skill][skill]Arcane Echo[/skill][skill]Elemental Resistance[/skill][skill]Ether Signet[/skill][skill]Soothing Memories[/skill][wiki]Ancestor's Rage[/wiki] However, [wiki]Ancestor's Rage[/wiki] just experienced a nerf, so I'm looking for a new skill to use in it's place. I'll probably try out [skill]Spirit Rift[/skill] but I doubt it'll work well since it has a long cast time, so I might just be better off spamming Rage, even if the damage is lower. EDIT: I believe you can Vanquish North Kryta Province solo with this build. I managed to take out just over 160 mobs including the Mergoyles and Giants. Didn't have time to finish the vanquish, and I'm not too into Vanq titles, but I might try it again sometime just to prove a point. Joe L.
Thanks OP for the build. I've used with much success. The only thing I run different is I bring Pain. It has a long cast time, and low cost. Reason being that Soothing memories does not consistently draw out Cry of Frust. However, Pain's 5sec casttime does(99% of the time, I've actually gotten it off, very rare.)

OMG...had no idea this was published...and so long ago.
If this kills my Guild's feather-selling business I'll be rather non-plussed. Anyhoo, similar to Masao's build, but replace Ether Sig with Leech, and 8th skill resilient weapon and most of the bosses are farmable...excepting that Tengu Monk and Tengu Ele. weibsen
hmm can someone pls upload a video, which shows the farming of this caromis?
i allways die in seconds -.- chessyang
Weibsen,
not to be a butt..... but have you tried the run in normal mode? you know to get the hang of it? j/w |
