Six Gods - Who is your God and why?
9 pages • Page 4
My patron gods would be Melandru, goddess of earth, nature and endurance, and Balthazar, god of war, master of the blade and the embodiment of courage. Probably to do with my being a highly sword specced Elementalist/Warrior. So thanks to Melandru for the 160 armor and thanks to Balthazar for Cripslash ^^

I'm not so much into the whole "worshiping" thing. I've always felt that if I was going to have faith in something, it should be myself.
Having said that, I'ld say the Tyrian god that I can most associate with would be Lyssa. Having done theater for years whilst having a penchant for stage/street magic and blades, the patron god of Actors and Assassins is certainly my cup of tea..

In my opinion, all other gods are injust cowards, due to what they did to Abaddon. Before his fall, when the six gods were still together, all of them decided to grant all mortal creatures the blessing of magic. This was a decision made and agreed upon by all gods. It was then Abaddon´s task to distribute the magic. What the gods appearantly didn´t foresee was the strong abuse of their newly given magical abilities. Instead of using their magic to do good, war broke out all across the world. It seems the gods made a mistake blessing the mortals with magic. And guess who paid for that mistake? Abaddon. He was sentenced by the other gods to be chained down and live a life of pain, anguish and torment ´till the end of his days. He was punished for a mistake that ALL gods were responsible for. Abaddon was merely in charge of the distribution; the consequences were not his fault. But the gods made a mistake and needed a scapegoat. And on top of that, instead of rectifying their error, they simply fled the world, leaving it behind in all its pain and misery. In my opinion, the 5 ´old gods´ are nowhere near being righteous, just or even intelligent. Furthermore, I think Abaddon´s vengeance is more than justified. How would you feel after being betrayed by what you thought were your fellow gods, and being sentenced to a life of misery and pain? I´d want my revenge aswell... This is probably why the gods were so hesitant in assisting us in our quest to defeat Abaddon. They were ashamed for what they did to him in the past, and perhaps even felt that Abaddon deserved his return. And to drive Abaddon´s life of dishonesty even further, he is destroyed, stripped of his power, and replaced by a mortal no less. Abaddon´s story is a tragic one. He is portrayed as an evil god with evil intentions, but he is merely doing what is rightfully his to claim. I´ll follow Abaddon ´till the end of my days. |
I think you got your facts wrong about your god buddy. Abaddon gave magic out like candy to small kids without thinking. And that caused the races to get greedy and then wage war against eachother.
So that King Doric dude had to beg the other gods for peace, they gave the bloodstones and this pissed Abaddon off and made him march on them with his margonite army.
He is an unstable entity and can not be allowed such power as of a god.
Well, first I'd like to say that this is a very awesome idea! I always thought that the gods didn't get enough attention in the games. So I think this should definetly be made in GW2!
I'd probably go with Melandru. I like my ranger a hell of alot, and I also like nature. Not so much of the beauty you can find in nature, but how that beauty can decive. Nature is a force not to be reckoning with, i.e. volcanos, earthquakes etc.
Yea, totally Melandru ^^

Dwayna first - light, air, healing, lightning and warmth - all good stuff to have on your side.
Lyssa would be coming up second though for the ability to mess with people's heads, and Kormir's portfolio of knowledge is interesting, but she still has to prove herself.
On Abaddon - Abaddon wasn't exiled because of what mortals did with magic, it was because he essentially declared war on the other gods for their dilution of the power of magic. Mortals abusing magic may have been part of the leadup, but it was ultimately his own actions that led to his imprisonment in Torment.
