Treated as a noob for being kind ????
oscarsymonds
The other day someone in the alliance wanted to buy white dye and asked if anyone had any. I told him I had one and he asked for a price, I asked for 2K. That got a laugh from the alliance because they didn't think I know what its worth and treating my like a noob for it. But in all honesty I know what its worth and I just feel like I should help out the alliance and not be greedy from them.
Anyone else have this problem?

Never had it myself.... I'm an extremely friendly alliance, no put-downs whatsoever.
Sounds to me like its just a few assholes you have in one of the guilds there, just ignore them mate, its good that you're discounting for your allies.
Tell them to get a can of harden the F*** Up and stop being children about it.

wow... you need a new alliance.
I'd expect that in local chat, but from your alliance?

Happens everywhere in GW. I just spent over an hour handing out Monk Starter Kits (A noob green staff, a vitae, and 50g), when a girl I just handed a kit to starts PMing me calling me a scammer.
What can you do? The world works pretty much the same way, when it comes down to it.
Find a new Alliance, though... They do get better than that... But not by much.

Clearly you either need a new alliance or just don't help those ungrateful jerks.

People are like that everywhere.
I gave a Master to someone in EQ2 for free! For free!
Back then, items like that sold for a few plat (that is a lot back then!)
The guildie left right after I gave him the Master to join a raiding guild.

Get over it... it is a game. If your family would act like this, you would have a problem. Or is your family in that alliance ?
Roshi_ikkyu
I do what ever I can for Alliance, often giving away dye for free or even items (And the odd green). If I ever ask for money its small and almost laugable compaired to the price of an item. But I always expect the person to re-pay the favour to the Alliance. Kinda like a GW pay it forwards.
If they reacted like that you should move on.

I have not had that type of problem with my alliance, but the other day I was booted out of a group (shiro and lich mission) because the monk leader thought that my interrupt ranger should not have any self heals.

Depends if they were joking or genuinely ripping into you?
If they were being complete jerks and taking the pee pee, then get out of the alliance and tell them to grow up.

I learned many a year ago to *never* do anything unless you want too - it will rarely be appreciated. This is fairly true in real life also, even more so on the net.
That's not to say never volunteer or never donate anything, but rather do so because *you* want too. I know it sucks to get that type of reaction, but if you do it because you know it is the right thing to do then you will never be personally disappointed (though you will still be disappointed in others). People will always find something to bitch about - you should have given more, they really wanted B when you gave A, they already do everything (or some other reason) so the *deserve* it (this is usually coupled with you didn't do enough), and a myriad other things.
Feel happy that you helped your current alliance and start looking for another one if it really bothers you. I'm sure there are ones out there that would not make fun of you for doing such a thing.

Makes me appreciate my own guild more.
Mutants ftw
Change your guild/alliance or ask you guild to boot the guild with the rotten apples or leave the alliance with your guild.
Got any white dye left btw? :P

We do not allow selling or buying on guild/allaince channels.
Only free items to other members are allowed on these channels.
Works well for us.

Bane of Worlds
You'd just have to live with how people behave and expect that anything you do will not be appreciated. People will complain and will never to satisfied. I was called a noob by a player who wanted to buy an elite necro tome but didn't have enough cash so I only charged 4k and was called a noob for charging so low? Most people would charge more for elite tomes. Not to mention that giving free items to new players and some will call you a noob or a scammer with a hidden agenda which to me is very odd. Or they will complain that you didn't give them more.
I'd suggest to find another guild or alliance. Or next time to state what it is worth and then say your charging price on the item to avoid being called a noob for not knowing correct value of items.

This game is played by people. Such interactions as the OP is talking about are between human beings not pixels. Kindness is still kindness, in a game or outside of it. You can still be a complete jerk, in a game or outside of it.
To the OP, get a new guild honestly, not worth putting up with morons in a game you play for fun and entertainment.
anshin
in my alliance we only accept people/guilds we consider acceptable to give things for free...
most of the things we do is for the fun of helping, other is for the challenge
with people like that in your alliance/guild you should quit or ask for that person to be kicked... bottom line... what everyone else before me said
not all people are jerks... about 30% is alright

@ the OP, your Alliance members are jerks and if that kind of thing is allowed then I would say it's definitely time for you to find another.
Healers Wisper
Honestly, I was in a guild like this when I first started playing this game, I got sick of it and left. The Guild leader PM me ordering me to rejoin his guild and such and I basically said I dont like ur childish alliance, so I am gone, he got introduced to my ignor list after continued bantering.
Anyways I later joined my current guild, I joined shortly after creation of guild and Alliance and have been there now almost 6 month and became an officer. I have yet to have something like this happen in our alliance so not its not the Norm. In fact this past weekend I sold 5 whites to a alliance member for 8K cause thats all he had and really wanted White armor.
My best advice is, you dont like the way ur current alliance/guild is behaving leave find a new one. there are good people playing this game and the ellusive good alliance does exist.

We have no problems anymore. Only when new players or Guild get invited, then there is a bit of an "adjustment".
Novalon
As I recall, my alliance set a "market" day. And only on that day would we allow trade spam to flood alliance chat. It was usually on a Saturday or Sunday, and since I mainly did things more within my own guild, I rarely used the alliance chat during that time.
That being said, my alliance also had a strict "no drama" policy due to happenings that I won't get into.
For example, one member started begging for money, saying that a runner was holding his armor hostage because he didn't have the funds for the run. First of all, why he didn't ask me to do the run, I have no idea, but anyway, I ended up kicking him on the grounds that his spam was getting annoying, and it was irritating several members (that, and trying to get out of a run without paying is beyond low).
After that rule was instated, I was perfectly content with the conduct that Slayers Players [SYPR] allowed. They didn't care how good a player was, so long as they followed the "no drama" rule. Granted, there was also an unspoken level of excellence that was required, but even the lowest of members could at least keep that.
Wow, I miss playing this game, I hope I can move somewhere with a decent connection soon.

normally to avoid assholes I stay away from them. Otherwise I usually just say: "Well I could probably get 10k form most people for this so I will sell to you for 5k."
Using that method you wont get the dickheads lol'ing at you

This is why my guild only consists of people I personally know. I don't keep alliances because I have no power over the guilds of others. At least I know in my guild, anything that goes wrong, if ever, will be handled by me in the fairest way possible.
You sold him a cheap white dye and got nothing for abuse for it. That's a true sign of them only looking for attention. You do something nice for a stranger in this game and that's pretty much the standard reply you get. This is why people stick to the rule of only helping people they actually know.

A game is meant for enjoyment, not to put up with crap. The OP came here because he was unhappy about the childishness of people in his alliance; and wanted to discuss it.
You're probably one of those people who act childishly to put yourself higher than others in your own narrow perception of things. Grow up.
