Hi, i have decided to create a new Ranger, however i am not sure as whether to play in Prophecies or Nightfall.
I can easily take my Ranger to every continent later on,however for the time being i would like to know, which game would you prefer.(To play a Ranger in)
I haven't played Prophecies in quite some time, however i do remember it was almost a hassle getting the extra 30 attributes.
As for Nightfall,Rank grind! ^_^ In any case i would like your opinions, thank you.
Creating a new Ranger....Prophecies or Nightfall?

I'd decide based on whichever has the face/hair combo you like best. It's the only thing you'll be stuck with the whole game and can't change, aside from the profession itself.
Also: do people who complain about Nightfall "rank grind" get runners everywhere? Doing primary quests, a few side-quests. and stopping by scouts/priests to get bounties, I've hit the rank requirements easy on every character I've taken through, native and non- alike. It's a ridiculous mark to level against Nightfall (although it does present a wall in Factions, since you're not presented much opportunity to gain any until that point).
The attribute point things.. in Nightfall, you get them pretty much right away, before you're out of Istan. It's easy. Prophecies takes until after you've run ascension, basically. Nightfall is a faster, easier campaign, for my money.

Hah,well the "^_^" face was meant to imply that i meant it as a joke,i don't mind it myself, however at times it does put you off.
In any case, i still have not decided whether to Go Nightfall or Prophecies,if anyone has opinions,by all means post them

IVe always started my ranger in Proph. idk why but i always liked it there as its easy to get into a group, but hard to get greens by itself early in the game, but late in the game its quite easy. as for Nightfall cap Burning arrow and buy apply poison and thats enough to get you through the game :P

It's how much do you care about the extra attributes, because that's a long way away in Prophecies.
Also even heroes will require a while to get.
Prophecies is the harder option.

i personally would suggest prophecies. if youve never played a ranger before, prophecies is the best place to learn the class. all the skill quests are also a huge help. it does take longer to get to lvl 20 and get all the attribute points, but imo it is a much better campaign for learning the class and getting a feel for the different play styles that class has to offer. it is also a much easier campaign. the only advantage to nightfall is the heros, however once you get to lions arch, you can go to nightfall and get the good heros right away and use them to finish prophecies. by that time you should have a good feel for the class and its the perfect time to start learning how to use heros good. by the time you finish prophecies you should be an expert ranger with good heros and ready to take on the nightfall campaign. it is probably the longer choice, but imo it will be much more to your advantage in the long run.

well i started guild wars before nightfall, and as far as i was concerned, proph is alot better than nightfall, but thats just me(free skills, some of the best elites early, runs through the game=W00T killer combo!)
but on the other hand nightfall has some brill-skills and early extra artribs but some of the wierdest hairstyles and faces but imo proph because the atribs are quite easy to get if youve got a decent build ^.^

If you really want to know the breakdown of which campaign to start a ranger, first you must know what motivates your character's development.
If you want to work your skills, Prophecies, due its length and leveling obstacles. If you want to level fast and get a skill to use, like BHA, then Factions is your best option. factions is the fastest place to level a character from start. Experience points are given out like candy in Cantha.
As for Nightfall, it's the middle ground as leveling goes. Burning Arrow, as mentioned above,is gained once on the Mainland. Then, the level of skill needed isn't as steep as in Prophecies. Fighting Charr at level 9 never appeals to me at this point in my gaming life. Yet, that's the crucible that a ranger needs, imo, to be most effective.
