your most memorable drop(s)

OK, hopefully most of us have had a few OMG! moments when we ID'd a gold drop, where you will always remember where you were and what you were doing when you got that drop. If we've been very good boys and girls, we may also have experienced a couple of OMFGJFC!!! moments as well.

Back in the old days (before the Wisdom title), I'd often carry gold drops, especially lower req ones, around for days or weeks before IDing them, to savor the anticipation. Sometimes I'd store them on a char I wasn't currently playing and end up forgetting all about them (like the 2 unID'd axes still stashed on my Mo). (Now, of course, I put them in storage so that my main char on each acct can ID them.)

I still remember my 1st (and only) gold Fellblade drop - zealous, 13^50, req 12 - that dropped for my nuker just outside Ember Light on a capping run with a couple of guildies.

So, without further ado ...

My most memorable drop, bar none, came about 10 months ago, when a buddy and I were spending endless hours farming Eternal Grove while awaiting the NF release - a Zealous Amber Longbow of Shelter with +5E ... and REQ 8!!!!! (Just yesterday, I dyed this puppy black, so it now looks like an Urghoz flat (but an, oh, soooooo much better bow, not being a flat lol)). Same exact spot where I got, either a few days before or after, a req 8 Sundering Gothic sword, 14%/enchanted.

Runner up would have to be the Golden Phoenix my rit got during Raisu mission 4 or 5 weeks ago (after I'd given up hope of ever getting another decent gold drop due to loot scaling) - req 10, 15^50, zealous, +30H. I just about fell off my chair when I ID'd it.

I've gotten some pretty nice drops since I've been playing but these 2 really stand out in my mind. How about you?

My first perfect dead sword drop, got it while 55 soloing The First City in HM, haven't sold it yet.

In my guild, we have a common memorable drop we simply refer to as "the axe". It dropped some months after I had registered for GWGuru auctions, for my guild leader while we were doing the "Undead Hordes" quest in Beetletun. It dropped from a level 11 Grasping Ghoul, and... we immediately knew it was worth something - a max sephis axe, golden, 9 req, 15^50, cruel, and 20% Enchantment.
I auctioned it, and we got 375.000 gold, which our guild leader distributed about evenly among the active guildmembers.

Was a req8 Golden Phoenix Blade. Pulled it off for 100k + 20 ectos before they dropped to 20k, hah.

Out of 2 years of playing, my best drop was a blue inscriptable Eternal Shield that sold for 80k. Second best was a Sup Vigor.

a req 8 guardian of the hunt shield wen it was first introduced. i was just out trying to kill scar eater for his drop and i got from a chests close by. it was +30hp and -2 stance

Superior Rune of Absorption in the fall of 2005 when I opened my first Southern Shiverpeaks chest after they introduced keys.

Sold it to the trader for 85k.

I was playing my main character. Was with some Guildies in Cantha (Vizunah I think). A gold Brute Sword dropped. It was 15% (-10 armor while attacking) +5 armor. I held on to it for a while, but eventually sold it for the equivilant of 220k - a good deal for buyer and me. That's pretty much been the cushin that my bank vault rests on.

A drop I will always remember came from the Realm of Torment. I was capping the very last of my elite skills from a Ritualist Boss in the Depths of Madness. It was the same weekend when they had shifted the location of many of the bosses in RoT, so it was a true hunt. I was surprised and pleased to see that, as I captured the last of the Elonian elites (and thus securing my legendary skill hunter), a green communing staff had dropped. The Staff of Ruin now sits securely in the hands of my ritualist, who up until now had been using a staff I crafted in KC over a year before. It was just nice to get a green drop on my final boss kill. Marked the moment well.

1-2 weeks after factions release when XoO held HzH I got a req 9 15/-5 Zodiac Sword (first run into Urgoz) from a chest.

Sold it here in High End for 1.5million.

Then the ferries began and Zodiacs tanked to nothingness. Prob not even worth 100k nowadays?

This was back before inscriptions. It netted me my first set of Obsidian Armor

Same, i got a 15^50 r9 chaos axe soloing spiders. I still have it today, customised. Also, as soon as hm came out i started soloing nolai, and thats where i got my 15^50 long sword, the love of my life.

then duo days req8 15^50 storm modded with vamp 5.1 and armor +5

Either first Sup Vigor (Abbadon's Mouth with guildies) or first titan gem back in the day when they were 60kish. Probably not my best drops, but my most memorable.

well, My first memorable drop was a Victo's Bulwark when they were 100k. My second was a gold req 9 15^50 Clouded Maul the first weekend they had an event. I have had quite a few since then, including a req 9 +5e Celestial Sword, a req 9 15% -5e Sunqua Blade, a req 9 Strength Gloom Shield, and a Titan Gemstone when DoA was new. Looking back, I see how I got my FoW armor now...

My first ecto drop is probably my favorite. So long ago lol. I also enjoyed the dozen or so IDS drops I got when they each sold easily for 75k or so way back when.

Honestly, gold item-wise I have never gotten anything terribly memorable. Certainly nothing I went to Trade channel and sold for more than 40k. Drop-wise GW has been a bit of a bummer for me in that department, but I have gotten my fair share of more or less ok golds. Nothing ever to write home about. *shrugs*

Oh, free_fall's post reminded me that my first character, my necro, in Catacombs got a black dye. My first decent drop in the game. What did I do? Read the description and promptly used it on my pre-searing armor gloves.

When I went back to prophecies for cartographer title in the desert and just when I went out of one of those towns there was one of those rocky worms right outside the gate. I killed it, and it dropped a gold tribal blade. I unid'ed it and it was req8 15/stance 20/20 and +7 armor vs physical. From the first mob, right outside the gate. Still carrying that sword with me even though I have lots of rare skins.

Also had an elemental sword drop when I was doing a quest, came from a chest in normal mode near the monolith temple in that south part of the sulfur deserts.

It goes back to the very beginning of GW, 2005. Around may/june I got a unique armor with a superior vigor rune (old skin) in it. At that time GW didn't even have a rune trader so I didn't even know what it was worth until I found gwguru. Anyhow, I saved it and it now belongs to my fissure armor.
