Another build, this time E/Me Mind Blaster

Alright, so I am spamming the forums with random build ideas. This one I think has some potential, but I would like everyone's feedback, both in PvE and PvP. Thanks.

Attributes:

Energy Storage=12
Fire Magic = 12
Earth Magic >=9
Inspiration Magic hopefully around 4 or 5

Skills:
1.) Mantra of Earth
2.) Stone Striker
3.) Kinetic Armor
4.) Mind Blast {E}
5.) Liquid Flame
6.) Rodgort's Invocation
7.) Meteor or Immolate
8.) Res Sig or Glowing Gaze (with Immolate)

Use:
Cast Stone Striker followed by Kinetic Armor before going into the fight, then Mantra of Earth. Basically use Mantra, Stone Striker, Geomancer armor and Kinetic Armor as damage mitigation, and Mantra, Mind Blast, and Glowing Gaze as e-management. Metoer/Immolate, Rodgort's and Liquid Flame deal most of the damage with Mind Blast as Spammable damage for a net energy gain and to maintain Kinetic Armor. Immolate is also somewhat spammable for decent damage and nearly constant burning.

Concerns:
No healing, hex removal,or spells to deal with degen. If you can kill enemies fast enough, that shouldn't be an issue. So it might work pretty well in PvE but would most likely require a monk in PvP.

What do you guys think?

hmmm... it's basic, no super special powerful spamming, Defence like a good player would have, Attacking is strong. Just... Basic. Not that basic is bad, infact, its good. I see no problem in this build for PvE, good job. Rethink for self heal for PvP. Two more things,
[skill]mind burn[/skill]

Put your spells like this

[skill]insert spell name here[/*skill]
[skill]echo[/skill]

Mind blast is totally wasted on spamming fire nukes.

Thanks, Fluffy, I'll be sure to do that in the future. And are you suggesting using Mind Burn instead of Mind Blast? What would you suggest for self-heal? Maybe something like this for PvP:
[skill]Searing Flames[/skill][skill]Glowing Gaze[/skill][skill]Rodgort's Invocation[/skill][skill]Liquid Flame[/skill][skill]Aura of Restoration[/skill][skill]Mantra of Earth[/skill][skill]Stone Striker[/skill][skill]Kinetic Armor[/skill]

Phool, why is Mind Blast wasted on spamming fire nukers? Isn't it the definition of a spamming skill? Generally +2 energy for 51 dmg and a recycle time of only 2 seconds sounds like a pretty good deal to me. I suppose the build would work just as effectively with Searing Flames, in which case Glowing Gaze would become a must for extra energy management.

Mark of Rodgort?

EDIT: He means it's wasted as in Mind Blast is used as Energy Management sometimes and using it in conjunction with other Fire nukes is a waste.

That build below is pretty bad for PvP. You won't get enough energy to spam SF enough, and people just won't hit you if you have Mantra/Striker + Kinetic on. Aura of Restoration is pretty bad too.

I don't see how the OP build would be any more effective than a typical SF ele or nuker. In fact, I don't see the need for using up 3 slots for self defense when the tank should draw the aggro anyways and you could use those slots to support the party and/or do more damage.

There's nothing wrong with running Fire nukes on a Mind Blast bar... However, with all that extra energy, you could easily run some powerful party support buffs - expensive stuff that monks can't afford to run.

If the core of your build was something like...

Mind Blast
Liquid Flame
Immolate
Rodgort's Invocation
--optional--
--optional--
Fire Attunement
Res

With max Fire magic, support attribute at 9-10 spec, and E-Storage at 9-8 spec.

...THEN you can use the optionals to throw on all the goodies you want...
Splash Earth Magic for Wards and Eruption
Check out Water for Deep Freeze, Maelstrom, Blurred Vision or Steam
Mesmer... has Mirror of Disenchantment - niche in PvE, useful in PvP.
Or... Go Monk for Aegis, Heal Party, Draw Conditions, Extinguish, Convert Hexes, Reverse Hex, Shield Guardian et al.
Or go Ritualist for Weapon of Warding, Resilient Weapon, Wielder's Boon, and all the other cool Weapon spells which, as a mind blaster, you can spam with abandon.

Heck, you could run some of the expensive Paragon shouts from Command/Motivation if you *really* felt the need to... That, or run Blinding Flash.

The beauty of Mind Blast is that it allows a flexible, changeable support character still capable of dealing damage - chage your bar depending on what your team is already covering, or what foes you will face.

And wasting 3 slots on self-defense is silly, when you can run wards to help the party instead.

Thanks for all the input guys. I am pretty new to PvP (I have been playing PvE for over a year now, but just started playing PvP this past weekend), so my PvP builds suck. I am learning quickly what works in PvE generally gets crushed in PvP. All your input is greatly appreciated. I'll take your ideas into account, try out a few things and see what works best and what I like the most.

The one thing I want to say about the defense is I guess I had the build more in mind for soloing PvE but wanted it to be easily adaptable or just work in PvP, and in PvP i thought the defense would be even more necessary. The last good team I played on in RA, I played as a warrior, and we won 10 straight battles before I had to leave (we didn't die, I just had to stop playing). In that team, I was told to target casters first, so I am worried I will be targeted specifically by wars and sins in PvP. Hence the heavy defense.

But I will try the different builds suggested and see which one fits my play style best. I will be sure to update with what I have found. Thanks again!

spec a bit into Earth and use [skill]Ward against Foes[/skill] or kite them with [skill]Flame Djinn's Haste[/skill]. both very good skills; ward also helps your team and works for many different situations.
