I posted this in another thread, but rather than derail that thread, ill ask here.

Is it just me or does everyone's cursor focus disappear from the chat after each time you use chat...?

ie.. i have to keep clicking mouse focus back into the chat command line after i press enter on the last chat i sent.. :/ which if i forget to do means i end up trying to type my next line but instead have about 6 windows open from the keyboard shortcuts *gibber*

One answer i had was:

Hiya, thanks for suggesting that but i use a PC and standard keyboard. I tested again just now, and as soon as i press enter to send my chat line, the focus moves from the chat to the main screen... so if i start to type a word beginning with 'g' the Guild interaction window pops up :/

Is it supposed to be like this? I cant imagine so..but ive checked my options and i cant see what im doing wrong.. any advice please as it is incredibly annoying.

The chat client drove me crazy when I first started playing. If you hit Enter
before you start typing, it will put you back in the chat window.

So, if you're typing in chat:
You type stuff. Hit Enter.

Hit Enter. Window opens back up and you type stuff.

Does that make sense? Or am I just misunderstanding the problem?

Yes, this is how it's supposed to work.

You have to activate a chat channel to type in it.

Hitting Enter should toggle the current chat channel active and inactive. Shift + 1 will activate All Chat; Shift + 2 will activate Guild Chat, and so on.

The reason is that many of the game functions are best activated by using the keyboard. Would you rather have to turn on the chat window, or the movement/skill keys?

Just get in the habit of Shift + 1/2/3/4/5 before chatting. It will probably become second nature very quickly.

Hope that clears up your confusion, if not giving you the answer I think you want to hear.

ooooh thank you very much guys, much appreciated

Both for the tips of Shift + 1,2,3 etc and to know to know now that i can simply tap enter twice to chat a 2nd time in a row. Cheers!
