A real use for weapon requirement

Ok, here is my idea....A person can not weild a weapon or off hand until they reach the weapons req. Ex A lvl 5 Warrior with 5 points in axe mastery can't use/weild a max weapon with req 9....And i think its already like this....lets say he gets to lvl 9 axe mastery...when he gos further...the weapon does more and more damage...

Pros -
It would put a lot more diversity in the weapons players use....You wont see noobs with max weapons all over the place.
Those cheap weapons you always find when you first start....you can sell them to other people instead of 'giving it away' to the merchant.
It would keep people from always wanting max weapons, and (The first pro i mentioned)
A bigger use for weapon crafters.
Cons -
A slight annoyance.
More trade.
A bigger demand for auction house.

Please, any comments?

I like to use a +5E, 20%Enchantment with my touch smitter.

With this I would not be able to keep my builds, so... hm...
No.

Weapons already deal more damage when your atributes are higher then 12, so your just suggesting to make them unable to wield because of the req.
With that said it wont make the game more interesting or anything, if you meant a lot more damage your trying to make a warrior hit as hard with one hit as an elementalist, wich would put almost any proffesion that doesnt use weapons for offense at a disposition. I understand the idea, but I also see this isnt going to happen because of the imbalance it would bring.

Ok maybe i didnt explain it right or what? My point is to make more use of the smaller damage weapons you find, and actually have a point of being lower lvl....(other then lower attributes, which still tie in to my idea)Ex, lvl 6 not having max damage weapons....

Oh, and it wouldn't ruin ANY builds! Because, i would think that the builds people use are used at lvl 20, and your attributes are high enough anyway...so there really is no biggy there.

What they're trying to tell you is this:

Some of us enjoy using shields / swords that we do not meet the requirement for. Because the inherent bonuses of them are still given (+30 HP, +20% Enchant, +5e, 10% SPR, etc..) and with shields you still get +8 AL on a +16 AL shield, even if you do not meet the requirement.

Therefore if you wanted to run these setups you would have to go out and get non-max versions of perfect golds. Which is harder than finding the perfect gold, atleast in my experience.

Also, some builds (IE: IW Mesmer) use weapons not for their damage, but because they *are* the weapon itself. Many people also use Swords/Offhands since the bonuses on the swords are different than on wands.

Also, almost all of my casters have staves that they don't meet the req for (Ex: Olias using an insightful *hypnotic* staff of defense) since casters don't use wands/staves for damage, just for the energy.

Also, there are uses for non-max weapons...for the time when you can't reach att lvl9 and weapons are useful. By the end of the game, though, this is not the case.

Let's see... Rajazan's Fervor for a monk, the -50HP necromancer offhand that monks use... What build wouldn't be ruined again? Terrible idea.

Ok fine! bad idea...(atleast according to you all....)I tryed to make more use of lower damage weapons, and noobs not have maxxed weapons...and instead have the weapons appropriate for their lvl...and failed...i guess everyone can still just go straight for 'maxxed' weapons..

PS: I sure hope GW 2 has some kind of requirement like that, hopefully level req...

Yes, I agree. I totally support grinding for grinding's sake. Let's reward players who sell their soul to the game and punish players who don't. Good idea.

The only way your idea would work without making 60% of the GW population quit the game was if it only affected characters under level 20. Once you got to level 20 though, you can use anything you want. Casters can use their swords and shields, beastmasters can use staves, etc.

I do kinda like the idea though, since it's too bad that any weapon that drops for newbies nowadays is just garbage when they can get a cheap max green in town.
