When GW2 goes live, will GW cease?

I have searched around and not found an answer to this so I am asking.

When GW2 goes live in a year or so, will the servers that run GW come down, or will they exist side by side like EQ and EQ2 does?

According to known sources, No. GW 1 will exist on.

At worst, it will only suffer some loss of players as they migrate to GW2, but anyone that wants to play GW1 will still be able to.

As Iuris said, there is no known official statement of the GW1 servers closing down at any immediate or future time.
It would not make sense to close out GW1 when GW2 starts since I am sure once we figure out how the Hall Of Monuments works and what titles in the HoM unlock stuff in GW2 (this is the most that has be understood at this time), people will be crossing back and forth to get certain titles into their HoM to get stuff in GW2.
If for a much simpler reason, many people will still play GW1. They may not move onto GW2 right away or at all.
Final note: this has been brought up a few times. So this thread may need to be closed. No offense to the OP.

ANet has stated they will continue to support Guild Wars 1.

What I stated above was in PC Gamer.
