Lag in Australia
2 pages • Page 2
300-500 ping down here in Melbourne.
I used to play on Euro and I was around 1000, but changed to US which ran much more smoothly... I'm with Telstra ADSL and I get a bit of lag, and a bit of rubberbanding. It's really bad some days, but mostly it runs ok. That said, when I play on my boyfriend's computer (through cable rather than phone) it's the same amount of lag, but less rubberbanding...
GW has also randomly restarted my computer about 7 times...

Over the last week I haven't noticed any rise to my ping, but the lag spikes do seem to happen more frequently. |
Melbourne suburban. American servers.
I've been getting lagspikes loads (1.5mbps). Being reduced to dialup through shaped internet cap doesn't make it worse though.
I normally play on about 600ping (which is fine, no lag at all, GW lagmeter is wrong, I don't care what you think of it), but in the past 2-3 months I've been hitting 1000s irregularly. Dragon Festival week was quite unplayable, I'd lag out for 5-10 minutes at a time randomly.

I'm in LA atm, but while I was in Sydney I didn't have any serious lag problems. Never had great pings, but it was good enough. I had a few problems with my wireless network but that's a separate issue.
By the way, if any of you feel it is unfair that Australians and New Zealanders are being charged an inflated price for buying GW:EN over the online store, please feel free to comment here.

I use the word ignorant meaning uneducated or unsupported by knowledge.
1) Yes Australians are defaulted to Euro servers, But myself and a large percent of Aussies/Nzer have jumped to the american servers.
2) It was unrelated to the Euro server problem (We don't even route thru there), and only got worse after the fix.
I'm just praying its an GWEN update issue and will disappear soon enough. Can't play till later but if it has improved I'll post a notice.
By the way to try fixing the problem I did the step suggested in the Tech forum of this site. Sadly it didn't help. But it might help others

Forget my previous report of maximum 3k ping....
Its now gotten to a stage where i log into an outpost, take a few steps, and the game grinds to a halt. Ive not done a check of the hubs i get my service through (I'm assuming I'm in the same boat as the OP; QLD here too)
Im on Telstra btw... Shocking service.
