-Jay Snipes What games do you have? i.e. prophecies/factions/nightfall/all?
I'm pressuming since you picked Ele as a secondary you had an idea?
Rangers can be very flexable -> Beastmaster (pet driven), Trapper, Interrupter, Barrager, and there are many builds for each.
My R/E plays a fiery barrage build, look at the build directory and you will find something along those lines.

i have prophecies....thats all.....an idea?....i thought that i could do a mix between like.....elemental magic....and arrows....i saw shock sniper....and that looks iight.....usually i use (read the wind + firestorm) for strong enemies.....or (point blank + dual shot) for an extra boost kind of attack...is this good?
Tyla
firestorm is no good for a ranger
but you should try using [skill]conjure flame[/skill] and [skill]kindle arrows[/skill] and a good old [skill]dual shot[/skill] but [skill]melandru's arrows[/skill] could be a better prep under some circumstances,but lets not forget - [skill]poison arrow[/skill]

he's lvl 8 proph, so no yet to elites.
you have some slogging ahead of you, so think of interrupt and energy management. If you get a good drop or can get one, look for a Fiery Bowstring. That will add damage per shot with Conjure Flame. As you lvl up you can get Mark of Rodgort, but it is 15e. Savage Shot and Distracting Shot are your friends. They are great against Stone Summit casters and White Mantle when you come across them. Apply Poison is nice to spread conditions, causing degen against your foes.
Keep Expertise high as possible, as this helps with skill recharge. as an R/E don't dump a bunch into Fire. Put it into Marksmanship, as that will be the core of your damage skills. Later, if you trap or use a pet, you can dump into Beast mastery/Wilderness. The big thing is to keep expertise up!
(deep breath) All that being said.....R/E isn't much fun until you cap Barrage, which will be after Dragon's Throat in the Southern Shiverpeaks. Then you will be able to combine that with Rodgort's to flame decent AoE...especially with a Fiery bow. build up your basics(crippling, interrupts, condition spreading) till then.
Rangers lead the way.

Pick Me
Bring Glyph of Lesser Energy. Its a skill right not a spell? If so, would Expertise have any reduction in its cost? Reduces 2 spells by 10 energy with 0 points into Energy Storage. Conjure and Mark Of Rodgorts will then be dropped by 10 energy.
Don't try to be a spellcaster with a Ranger, it doesn't work very well at all.

hmmmm....a funny thing about having a max weapon as a new char. Unless you dump all your points into Marksmanship(which you don't want to do), once you reach lvl 6-8, the fact you can only get half damage not meeting the requirement of the weapon makes it better to have a bow closer to your level. You will be getting 7-8 to 14 damage out of it, when you could get a dropped bow with 18 max dmg in Kryta. Greens are nice, and they look cool, but until you get to a high lvl they aren't worth the cost, sundering mod, etc., notwithstanding. Remember, mods from bowstrings(fiery, icy, zealous, etc) are the same no matter what lvl bow, and are salvageable from any bow not a green. Plus, a fiery string works schweet with conjure flame. I still have the first fiery longbow of fortitude I made at Droks, and it's still a favorite.
