Kind of dumb question but...

What is an Ecto or E? I havnt played in a long time so i forgot everything, someone please tell me what it is?

It is a Glob of Ectoplasm. It is a rare material which only has one use; to make Obsidian Armor. It is also used, unofficially, as a second form of currency in player to player trades because there is a cap of 100k cash when trading.

So how much is the each ecto worth?

It's worth about 5k now, but it has sold for 2-3 times that in the past

Ecto = Glob of Ectoplasm. It is a rare crafting material that is used to make a very expenisve type of Armor - Obsidian Armor. With rare exceptions, ectos only drop from certain monsters in "The Underworld."

The Underworld is a PvE area accessible by petitioning the Avatar of Grenth in various locations in the Guild Wars world. If you are curious about the current trade value of an ecto, go look at a "Rare Material Trader" npc in one of the major towns. They will lest a selling price as X. Most players will be willing to trade you an ecto for X-1plat.

Beware of some player traders who may attempt to trade you a Mursaat Token in place of an ecto (the two look very similar, but tokens are only worth about 20g).

Obsidian armor has the exact same stats as all other max armor. The only reasons to acquire Obsidian Armor are for aesthetics and status. To acquire Obsidian Armor you must complete a number of quests in the Fissure of Woe (access granted through an avatar of Balthazaar). The materials are very costly, and gathering all the materials and gold to craft the armor can take a very long time.

I hope that answers your questiosn about ectos. If you are new, it's probably somethign you wont have to worry about for a while.
