I've been dawdling around in the Anguish realm with guildies recently, and we have had no need to get on vent. There are plenty of challenging things in PvE that could benefit from voice communication. I don't see the Domain of Anguish as one of them. It's actually proven pretty easy to blast our way through with good old overpowered SF & SH. Why are PuGs demanding voice communication? The process of farming this place does not seem that hard...
Are they using it just in case a group member overaggrovates, and in which case, they'd need to yell at someone for it? -.-
Thanks in advance...
Voice Communication in DoA, why?

I've done one DOA run. If it weren't for us all being on vent, I'd of dropped out from bordem about 1/4 way through the run. As it is I still stuffed up a couple of times after dozing off from the bordem, causing 1 near wipe.
In my experience, voice comms usually make the area more interesting.

If your so bored by one of the more complex portions of the game why then are you playing it? The only reason to be bored in this game is repetition of farming and not doing new things all the time. or not going back with other characters to older areas that you have long forgotten or have not played in an age so it feels like new again. If your bored, its time to try something different, and not farm the same thing over and over and over forever like a mindless bot.
And as to why the TS Vent influx lately its cause the interaction is of higher quality then a bunch of easily dismissed text on screen. It makes the guildies you are playing with REAL. as to PUGs, well IDK why anyone would invite a random PU player into their TS... cause you know it will turn around and bite you in the butt later if you do. But if some are, more power to them.

Right this is how i see it:
1. Cuts down time trying to explain things for first timers
2. People tend to listen more when hearing a voice than reading words
Groups i've been with thats use vent or ts i see seem to do a lot better than groups who don't. Most of my runs in DoA have cut down about 1/3 of the average runs when people use vent/ts, since they don't screw around or cause a party wipe

At what point did I say I went back after that run ?
Or should I of left that run partway through simple because I was bored, screw everyone else there because I have team skilled enough to make the area boring ?
As for it being a complex area of the game, all I did as the HB monk was watch as the tank handled aggro and the eles nuked away, throwing the occasional seed of life or healing seed on the tank or bonder whenever his health started to drop. On the times aggro stuffed up, people died too quickly for me to react as it was always someone being one-shotted. So since we were always doing the same thing over and over, how is it a complex area ?
Sure areas other than the Stygian Veil might be different, so I do plan to complete them all at least one. But I'm not doing Veil again.

I don't farm as its also too boring and I have plenty of gold anyway. But I only found Stygian Veil boring, the rest of PvE I do enjoy.

Well then I stand corrected for you. but you would not believe the people that say the game is boring, and when I come to find out why, its cause all they do is farm an area to death, and gee wiz after a month or two in UW just hitting smites I agree that would be boring... I know people are doing that in DoA now too for gems, so I thought by your statement that is what you were doing as well. My assumption mistake. so I'm sorry for that...

Requiring ts/vent is a good way to filter all the idiots not able to install these programs.
The people who respond to groups lf more with vent or ts tend to be less likely to leave when things do not go as fast as they could (in fact haven't had a leaver in these groups where there tends to be at least one in a foundry group without vent or ts). And it adds fun to the game offcourse. |
