Ok, this PlayNC thing is getting very stupid

Ok, so today I decided I should change my GW password. So, I go to PlayNC. I try and log in, but forget my damn master account thing. So after I finally figure that out (took like 30 mins) I come to find out that I have to add my GW games to the damn thing. I try and do that. But nope, the damn keys are "valid" according to the website. I used the damn things to get the damn game, I think I know they're valid! So here I am, stuck, can't get the damn games onto my damn plaync account, which is retarded, Anet should've kept all the passwords and accounts to themselves. It was much easier back then, just go into the game and change the damn password, email, or whatever. But no. PlayNC just had to but in and make a stupid system.
Sorry for the language. I just had to rant. This PlayNC account thing is just so stupid IMO.

Umm, if you can't remember your details, then contact support, tell them you've forgotten your details and they will take your through the very arduous security steps that are there to keep your account safe

No, they will screw you around for 5 or 6 days, asking for slips of paper that you threw away over two years ago, and when told that you don't have them anymore you'll be told that they will not help you anymore.

ive had the same problem. ive gone through and changed my e-mail and password before no biggie...a while back anyways. then this whole play nc shpeel came about and confused me to all holy hell. so i made a "master account" with them and attempted to register my GW games with them (thinking that it linked the accounts because...i dunno....it would be the most logical thing?) and it says theyre invalid already in use....well yeah i knew that long ago since theyre the keys in my effin account! so i try and try and i gave up. please for the love of god change it back to the old ways!

It is pretty stupid, ive held back from registering for a master account on PlayNC as its been responsible for multiple people losing their accounts, there was a horde of people all getting hacked about 8 months ago, i remember someone called Guinevere AC making a couple of posts about it here, all of them blamed a security floor with PlayNC or admitted they signed up for one.

well theres security then theres retardedness. its ok to have security questions that almost every other e-mail website or mmo has which you choose (middle name, mothers maiden name, high school you went to, etc etc) and that seems to work pretty well. im probably the only person i know who actually still has all my access keys from each of my campaigns but even then ide hafta go through the automated system for 2 months just to change a password and by that time if it was urgent it wouldnt really matter.

Ok, here's how i did it...
I made sure i remembered my plaync account details (as i'd had them from back in my CoH and lineage2 days... i then went through the ingame store and it asked me to add GW to my account, i followed the links and i then bought what i wanted from the store and my GW account is now attached to my plaync master account...

well yes but you did already have a previous account membership with them...so you were in the play NC clique for a lil while now. but the beef is what about those of us who dropped in on GW....basically bought the game made the account and that was that? i dont remember any e-mail about a play nc account name and password (but yahoo mail is just so awesome sometimes they just delete that stuff for me before i even get it) so i went on my merry way. had no problems changing account info before and with me it is a rather rare occasion to change account info but when i did it was because i was circling through all my passwords just to make sure they were all safe. so i havent really changed out my account info since probably a lil while after factions released over a year ago and my OCD for passwords is kicking in >_>

You bought yours online from PlayNC and it automatically gets linked to you account.
They bought theirs from a brick and mortar store, and now cannot add their CD keys to their PlayNC account.
I also cannot add my CD Keys to my PlayNC account because the screen you add your key for submission to the account, states that the key is invalid.
I cannot add my keys from Prophecies, Factions, or Nightfall because they are "Invalid".
My wife also cannot add her keys from Prophecies, Factions, or Nightfall to a PlayNC account she made for that one reason.
All keys are from boxed copies of the games.

I went to support, and they've seemed to be helpful so far (like support always is, I give them an A+, they're always helpful) I just hope I can get it figured out today. And yes, I think some of the security measures are going a bit too far, and the not being able to add the access keys needs to be sorted out soon.
Really, what got me annoyed is that the security measures were stopping me from being secure and changing my password. While I know changing passwords is what account thieves do, it's also what people who protect their account do. So while they are trying to protect me, they are also not protecting me.

My friend needs to change her password, when she tries it sends her to PlayNC. Made an account, and all of her keys are invalid. Sent a support ticket 4 days ago, the only two emails we have had are asking for details, which were sent, and an email saying be patient. Four days ago : /

since those keys are allready registered to you under the original account that was made earlier the attempt to create a second account with the used keys will be rejected.

solution is to open a fresh support ticket and include the original support ticket number for reference. to keep things straight at their end
also include a fresh polite statement of the problem.

i agree with the OP on this one. there is no reason to have a separate user name and password to change your password... sure have a separate account for adding a trouble ticket but to tie this to you play account and make it the only way to change your password is just silly.

lol, PlayNC just replied and told me to send a scanned or electronic image of my keys from the boxes - within the next 72 hours.
Looks like I'll have to finally install the damn scanner my wife's been pestering me about.

Example - I have his nightfall card and the slip that came with it in front of me. On the card itself it says 'Game Activation Card' and 'Guildwars Nightfall' on the front, and the key and what I can only assume are tracking numbers on the back.
The slip of paper that it was attached to says absolutely nothing about saving the card on the front or on the back, the back tells you how to add to existing accounts and making new accounts, the front tells you that you should create a new/upgraded account.
