I would like for people experiencing constant lag spikes to try something.

What I have been noticing in my case is that my connection to the internet is actually lost momentarily and then resyncs again within about 10 - 30 seconds on average. I'm on 10 mbit insight broadband cable.

I have also been able to do this same test with NO issues when playing other online games or general internet browsing my connection is as solid as a rock except when connected to arena net servers. This leads me to believe something between my connection and anet is leading to a loss of signal.

Click on your start button, click on Run, type "command" this should open up your dos command prompt. Now type the following without quotes:

"ping -t www.yahoo.com"
(or any ip of your choice, i use google.com too)

You will begin to continuously ping yahoo. Now go into the game and play normally, when you hit one of your lag spikes, minimize the game and check to see if your connection to yahoo is still pinging or if it is saying Request Timed Out.

Please post your results here. Especially if your ping is dropping off when you hit a lag spike in GW.

Thanks!

If GW servers, right now, are a preview of what are going to be GW2 servers, please don't release it.

From Toronto, I'm getting a ping from google.ca at ~200ms, and about ~2000 on GW. It's more of a constant lag, not spikes though... And I did get one or two timed out.

Without doing that (since I'm at work and can't) (and although it sounds like a great test), I posted in another thread after the Dragon Festival that it was weirder than lag and felt more like mini-disconnects.

This weekend it felt the same... like mini-disconnects. I didn't watch the ping or FPS. I just watched my game behavior. It's the same behavior the game displays just prior to the Error 007 message... I and my foe were just standing there looking at each. I couldn't fight and they didn't fight. And then suddenly we were hard at it again. During the 'spikes' I watched my skills trying to activate... and they didn't lag at all. They just couldn't activate because their was no connection.

Averaging 3,000ms in English-1 tonight.

That's better than it's been for a couple of weeks. I second whoever suggested Anet don't bother with GW2 if this is any indication of the future of GW's servers.

I'd rather pay monthly fees for good servers than be expected to play under these conditions.

all I know is my normal interent browsing works fine.

But ever since that god damn dragon festival all I have had is god awful lag. Which I have never experience b4 after playing this game for 2 years. I know the random err7s which happen to everybody at sometime... But this isnt even funny anymore.

It cannot be that as voice comm and internet radio continue to function fine through severe spikes, both with me and with others who were in my team when they lagged.
The small buffer that these other programs have cannot account for this either.
