Would You Go See A Guild Wars Live-Action Movie?
jayce
Based on Prophecies, the original six core professions. Maybe a 2.5 - 3 hour movie, long enough to explain each character's own story, perhaps even hinting at the five gods. With the right director, I think it could done. If so, what you would like to see in it? And if you had to choose, besides their primary attributes, name one other attribute of that profession above all others that would make the most sense in portraying in the film, and why.

Coming Summer 2008... Master Togo like you've never seen him before. Jerry Bruckheimer presents... TOGO and the EXPLODING FIST.
"Shiro, time to explode. Togo style."
"Shiro, time to explode. Togo style."
X Cytherea X
only if it stars Chuck Norris.
Silly Warrior
Most of us would (this is a Guild Wars forum afterall) even it sucked. Seeing real people act out the game would be very entertaining.
VitisVinifera
only if the entire thing was farmed out to a different production company. Anet can barely crank out crappy weekend events (let alone fixing the huge list of broken aspects) at the same time as they are making a new title

Chuck Norris is... Brother Mhenlo. And Shiro. At the same time.

Probably not...I'd rather not see another butchery like the Resident Evil movies.

It could work, if you think logically about it.
Could it be one of the greatest movies in history? Of course not.
Could it be a summer blockbuster nearly to the extent of LoTR? Sure.
Yeah I'd eventually see it if a movie were made, for sure, but theres so many variables really, you'd need the right director, the right cast, the right script, and the proper funding for such a project.
Honestly the easiest part sounds like it'd be getting the script together and letting the crew worry about how to bring that vision to life (good trip to new zealand, among other places, and some CGI could fix all this if done right)

Naw, I stend to steer clear of movies made from games. I've seen Dungeons and Dragons and DOOM. I don't need another 2-3 hours of my life sucked into a black hole.
Jongo River
I'd watch it, so long as during long dialogue scenes, rogue minions start eating the cast. And I'd want an Ascalon training montage, with death-leveling. Oh and just before leaving pre, one of the cast should announce that he's staying behind because it's pretty, and a couple of others should announce they're hiring a runner and take off for half the movie.
We need authenticity.

I would not go and see it.
With the lag I’d be in the cinema for 15 hours or more!
And half the actors would rage quit!

The irony is that a Guild Wars movie would have more plot than most movies nowadays.

GW story is boring if you take the gameplay out of it.
That goes for most games.

Because movies that are based on computer games are always awesome.... where's my rolleyes emote when I need it?

I think I'd see it!
I want to see who ever's playing Prince Rurick (please let it be some big burly guy) say such memorable qoutes as "As a boy, I spent much time in these lands" and "I almost cried when the searing happened"(that last one might be made up).
I think an actual live action movie based on the original Prophicies might be interesting. But, as Lonk pointed out, there are several hundred small variables that need to be absolutely perfect for it to actually turn out right...

Sadly, no matter how bad it was. It would still probably be better than most movies of the horrible movies released now...

OK, FOUR points to make.
Point 1: Uwe Boll. Beware.
Point 2: A good movie, with good, serious content, could well be made.
Prophecies: Possible serious themes would include refugees of the searing or the issue of Patriotism vs. Survival in Adelbern and Rurik.
Factions: The relations of two brothers, one granted a state far beyond the other due to virtue of birth. Next, you get the same refugee situations as in prophecies. An interesting plot would be to examine the idea of an intentionally inept bureaucracy (the ministries) that enhance the popularity of the Emperor.
Nightfall: Amazingly, the least material for serious thematics, even though the storyline itself is a good one.
3: Paul W.S. Anderson. That counts as a GOOD director for a game movie. Beware.
4: Uwe Boll. Beware.

I would be interested, but it would all depend on how they did it. I, too, have seen Dungeons and Dragons, as well as Doom. It would highly depend on if they could get a decent screen writer and a director that knew enough about the lore to make a worthy attempt. I have sadly seen too many of my favorite books/comic books/etc slaughtered on the big screen to be too optimistic about a movie like the one you suggest coming out.
If they made one, I may not go to see it in theatre right away, but I'd definitely watch it on the small screen (where I wouldn't be wasting money).
But that's just my two cents

I'd like to see it, though I think I would prefer if it was animated/CGI'd like the Final Fantasy movie a few years back. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0173840/
That was pretty cool. So a nice GW movie on the scale of the Final Fantasy movie would be ticket worthy imo.

In order for GW to make any type of a decent movie it would need to be way over 3 hours. And even then it would fail. Some things are not meant to be movies as previous video game movies have shown (Super Mario Bros., etc).
What makes a good game won't always make a good movie, now maybe make a GW fan movie, that could be interesting.
So to answer the question: No, unless it had a good cast and crew.

OK, I'll go along with Patrick Stewart as Togo but only if we get Vin Diesel as Mhenlo.
Floreum
I think the guy that did LOTRO should do it, he does a good job, and he's doing Gears of War the movie (I don't know his name, but he's director.)
God Apprentice
Live action- No
Animated- Maybe
Only if I get to see Mending wammos.

I would SO go to see Guild Wars: The Movie, especially if the one comedy character was a Mending-Frenzy-Healsig Wammo with the catch-phrases "Wammo Charrgeeee!" and "ZOMG n00b m0nkz rezzzzzzz!!!"
Patrick Stewart as Togo would be cool
