A Question about Ping

Okay, what I would like to know is if ping is increased if you are playing from Europe in the American Districts. I was checking to see if it did this...a little to many times. So I ended up in the American Districts, unable to revert back to European Districts. I at least want to know if this will affect my performance. My ping get around 210-400 when an area gets up and running.

Yes, playing on the US servers whilst being physically located in Europe will increase your ping, but should not affect the playability of the game. There are many US based players who play on the European servers due to the Favor of the Gods issue.
On a side note, if you submit a support ticket to ANet, they should be able to move your account back to the European servers. They will usually do this on one occasion as there have been many threads about this in the past.

Thanks a lot; this has been bugging me for quite some time.

I play on European districts and live in Europe, have a 3MB/1MB adsl connection and still get pings around 300 heh. (my connection becomes poor due to the route my ISP sends me from Ireland to the mainland UK and there isnt anything i can do about that unfortunately) There normally are quite a few factors going into what affects your ping, morso than just what district you play on.
Thankfully i havent found ping to be that much of an impeding factor, at least for PvE. Perhaps at the highest level of PvP it could become a slight factor.
When i played FPS games like CSS or DoDs, a ping over 80+ became disadvantageous. In GW im not sure what ping becomes unbearable as i havent reached it yet. (lag spikes of course i get now and again when i warp, but in general i wouldnt have thought 210-400 would affect you too badly. Remember than 400 is only 4/10ths of a second.
That being said...is it not possible to somehow revert back to European districts..? Hope it works out for you.
edit - lol, damn i got distracted and took ages to complete my post, glad to hear support can fix it
