How can I protect my GW account from hackers

Just like the thread title says... I want to learn all the ways I can protect myself and my GW account from hackers.

So far I've learned the following:
  1. Use different passwords for your game account and your PlayNC master account (and make them difficult to guess).
  2. Using the "Add serial code" button add at least one access key code from any of your retail boxed games to your game account if you haven't made a purchase in the in-game store which will automatically list the code in your game account.
Any other tips? Anyone? Thanks!

just avoid download any bot/fishy program for gw pretendin make you uber leet ...

and ofc dun say ur password/log in mail to anyone or type it anywhere.

other point : if your account is not yet play nc master account link you can change password ingame.password ingame change allow u use caracters like : * - / + in ur password.when password change from play nc only allow u letters and numbers.

so if ur acc is no master play nc linked yet add some + - */ symbols into password.peopl dun think about and it crash password finders.

use a anty spyware program regulary for avoid keyloggers.

thats all/

~ Keep an eye on what programs are running. “Ctrl+alt+delete” is a quick fast way to pull up your task pane and see what apps & processes are running. If you don’t recognize it, Google it.
~ Use a Firewall. Using a firewall won’t stop keyloggers , but it can prevent transmission of the logged material over the net and notify you of the incident.
~ Don’t use automatic form filler programs.
~Don’t use sketchy software, macros or browser add-ons. If it’s from a hack, crack or cheat site, chances are it is gonna wank you. (yes, even if you paid your $9.99…that just adds insult to injury)

since i am already listed here as paranoid besides the anti spyware/AV i have the following.

each account is on its own separate isp family member email account.
each account email used ONLY that one place is a maximum email length random generated password. example

XXXXXXXXXXXN/NNNNNNNN at my ISP . COM 20+ characters

password is a max length random password as well

since the pc here is secure i auto login to each account using both...
-password=xxxxxxxxxx
-email=xxxxxxxxx

no problems in over 2 years

but am i paranoid enough?

i also have zone alarm and a router as well

Never assosiate your GW account with NCSoft thats the No#1 cause of account loss at the moment

Use Letters, lower and upper case, numbers and symbols in password and make it long as you can (but easy to remember to you)

Basic stuff
I run Windows in user mode -- key for protection
My account has read write permissions on the guild wars installation directory
My email address on all gw forums is different then my GW account.
There is a password on my admin account..
(You would be shocked at the large amount of people on public wifi networks that don't add a password)

I find protecting my computer pretty easy, without being too paranoid. I do the following:

Use a hardware firewall, my router performs this very well. (make sure it is secure if wireless)
Use a software firewall, most antivirus programs provide this just keep it updsated.
Check for spyware/adware/viruses regularly: I do about once a week, some people do more
Do not download programs that you don't know what they are doing or from unknown sources. If they are offereing you something for free or whatnot (like the ramdom minipet code thinggy a while back)
Dont associate with bots (dont buy gold on ebay)
Create a password that you can remember but are not words or phrases. Maxing and randomizing passwords work but is largly unessessary.

Basically this is the advise a network security manager friend of mine gave to protect your home PC.

Love to see your data on linking to play nc, there *was* a loophole that's long since been shredded involving birthdays. But, long gone so AFAIK part one of your reply is full of it. Part 2 is great advice though .

If anything linking your acct to playNC improves your GW acct security, heres why: If someone isn't linked to playNC changing password can be done by anyone with access to the acct (ie someone power guesses the PW). If it's linked, they'll have to get 2 passwords right *and* you'll recieve an email notifying you that there was a PW change. Do the math.

I actually run an unsecured wireless router, however you can't connect to it unless I've added the mac address to the router's 'ok' list. Never did like the slowdown from encryption on my home network. Software firewalls: I only use the ones with windows and never ever had a virus. More relevant is never use peer to peer file sharing networks, ever. Password protecting your Pc's admin acct is a little like having a padlocked box inside of the safety deposit box at the bank, but it's easy and every little bit helps. In order not to get viruses, do most work while *not* logged into admin, make a secondary, non admin acct without installation priveledges.

If you *do* want to add all of your GW serial numbers to your plaync acct it may help secure them, I dunno. What I do know is 2 years without being hacked and nobody I play with has had their acct hacked except for the second acct one guy I know got 'from a friend'. So, I guess this supports not getting accounts anywhere except retail and online store.
