ecto drops in UW

Hey guys,

So i stopped ecto farming with my elementlist for a while (i started back after they disabled the scatter in NM again) and farmed there for about 1 month or so... now i took a 2 month break and went back into UW. Strangely enough not a single smite crawler dropped an ecto. I use the fire Ele using metoer shower, bed of coals, savanah heat and flame djinns haste. Has anyone else been experiencing this?

The chance of getting an ecto has decreased a lot, since UW is overfarmed with the coming of lots of easy solo builds. The only reason for farming uw ( in my opinion ) would be hard mode for the nice golds that drop. The occasional ecto, is a nice addition, but not the main farming goal.

Ive been experiencing the same. made a post a few weeks ago and some people were also finding the same and others were not. ive had drought of upto 7/8 runs before getting an ecto but when i was showing a guildie my uw build the other day i got 2 in one run which hasnt happened for ages!

i believe that it depends how often you ve been into that area
me and my friend started dual smiting and first we went trolls outside droks and got 3gold drops (in hm) ...
then uw (hm) we got our first run 3ectos...
now we don t even get 1 after 3days uw farming

i got 4 ectos in a run dual uw from start to smites then back around to the obsidian behemoth area

It all depends if you happen to hit a hot time for ectos. If you don't get any in the first run or two, I usually don't do anymore runs. And just wait awhile before doing more, sometimes an hour to acouple hours to start runs again.
If u get 1 in first run, chances are you might get more. I still get 2-3 ectos in one run sometimes, but then again I don't do that many runs in a row. But I always stick around if I get 1 or 2 in first run, and usually get 2 or 3 more in another two runs... bout an hour in UW at the most. It seems to work for me....working on my 2nd stack of ectos. I do 4-5 runs at the most. Hot times seem to only last for Half hour to an 1 and half, depending if you hit the time just right or not. If you ain't gettin sh*t for ectos, best to stop and try at another time. Or if you want to go hardcore, do runs until you hit a hot time...but then you waste money goin in and out. And it does seem to kill drop rates when you do more than 4-5 runs in a row.

All I can say is its all random guys, and that appears to totally be the case from studies down on lootscaling.

So I'm going to close the thread, like I do at least every week, not because I don't care about whats going on in UW and FoW, but that its been proven lootscaling exists as Anet has said.

I will reopen if a request is given, but I see no point in currently keeping this thread open.
