Hi, I recently bought Nightfall. While i love it so far, connection issues are bugging me. I got the 1st screen up where it says connecting to arenanet. That downloaded summin that took 10 mins. Now i have just entered all my details and its loading Kamadan and its taking just as long as it did the 1st time i played it, about 25 mins!! Is this normal??
Any help appreciated, im just wondering if i need to be doing something.

Yup, it's normal - GW has to download and install all the updates before you play. However, after the 1st time doing this, you're fine and dandy till a new patch is released.

You only have to wait for it to load for a while when you enter somewhere you've never been before. For example, I walked out of Kamadan to the Plains of Jarin, because I've never been there, I have to wait for a while so my PC will load everything.

If you use the -image tag to load GW once in a while, it helps a bit with the load times. 25mins is rather extreme though...

I'm a convert from the "other" game and im finding this harder to learn! I thought maybe the connection issues may have something to do with firewall settings like you have to do on the "other" game, but obviously not.
If it takes time when you first ever enter an area and when a patch is released then im happy with that.

Most updates are not that big and will only take a couple of mins to download. This new update however have some data from eye of the north in it among other things, bug fix, update etc. Wiki said the total size is 500mb+, therefore expect a lot of background downloading.

and even though it takes along time the first time you load a map the first one is always the longest in my expirance like when i reinstailled the first time i loaded it took awhile but after that even when going to new places it still downloads but only for 2-3 seconds
