I brought one of my chars from factions to night fall, and started the Battle Preparations quest, but I accidentally abandoned it and I don't know what to do next. Any one have any ideas?

If you abandoned it, go get it again from the same guy you got it from. You can totally do that, the quest is not lost forever.
