Could someone answer this please:

1. If I use item spells, is there a point to staffs. I dont get any bonuses so what benefit does a staff give?

2. Would a staff req spawning be enough for most the builds rits use. Or I should have 1 for each atribute?

1: No benefits while you are carrying an item. But you get a reserve you can tap when you drop the item.

2: I'd go for separate staves. If you go a-nuking, you'll want channeling, and if you go restoring you'll want a restoration keyed staff. Spawning power is only used if you want weapon spells or spirits.

Though you may not get energy, health, or armor bonuses from your staff, if you are casting "spells" you will get the HSR benefit that all staffs come with. And HCT if your staff has it. Iuris pointed out the rest.

I'm pretty sure this is incorrect. After spamming Vengeful & Remedy Weapons while holding an item, I never saw any change in recharge times. I was under the impression that all item bonuses were removed.

I can only speak from experience on this one... I used to run the vengeful/archane echo farming build (when farming was useful), and I would most definatly get 1/2 recharge time on spells. Most noticably on "Vengeful Was Khanhei" itself. The other spell I would use with any regularity in that build was "Vengeful Weapon", and it's recharge is very short to begin with and so not easily noticed if altered. If other spells aren't affected while holding ashes, at the very least, that split second between dropping ashes and re-manifesting them will take into account that you are holding a staff with HSR.

Now that you mention it, I believe I've seen my +1 Restore modification kick in if I cast the item spell while already holding an item. It wouldn't surprise me if the game did drop the item spell briefly during that cast.

The wiki page on item skills ( http://gw.gamewikis.org/wiki/Talk:Item_Spell ) seems to say that the spell effects of a wand/offhand/staff will still take effect, so the +1/20% and HSR/HSC mods should work.

I'm sorry, I don't see it mentioned anywhere.

I just tested this using Caretaker's Charge and Cruel Was Daoshen. I was holding a Channeling 20/20 +1 19% staff.

After ~20 casts of Caretaker's Charge holding Daoshen, my Rt never got a +1, a 1/2 recharge, or did a 1/2 sec cast time animation.
After ~10 casts of Daoshen while holding Daoshen, my Rt never got a +1, a 1/2 recharge, or did the 1/2 sec cast time.

99% sure the weapon you're holding loses all bonuses when holding an item, even when recasting the item.
