Non-Elite Ritualist tomes that undesired?!
Inger
For the last couple of days I've been trying to get a non-elite ritualist tome. I"ve been city to city shouting and shouting to try and get a non-elite ritualist tome. Every other class(ok maybe not paragon) i've seen ppl selling non-elite tomes for that class, but not ritualist!.
Now what i'm asking are ritualists that unpopular?... farmers just sell hte tomes to merchant or something rather than sell to players... or is it that no one farms factions so thus there is no supply of ritualist tomes?
In any case i'm getting pretty tired of shouting

I think ritualist tomes are possibly more rare than warrior/ranger/sin ect.
Try shouting for monk tomes. lol
I have found 2 for sale so far and they cost 1k-2.5k each.

If I ever bought a non elite tome it would be bought for 500g. Otherwise id just unlock the skill and pay 1k to the skill trainer npc.
Inger
heh more rare... i dunno that would seem kinda fishy... i doubt anet would screw over ritualists anymore than they already have.
If indeed supply is low i would suspect it has more to do with ppl not farming factions than the tomes being inherently more rare.

Curse You
In order to use a tome, you need to have the skill unlocked. If you have the skill unlocked, it's available at every skill trainer in the right campaign. So therefore, a normal tome should never be sold for more than 1k.
I think the Ritualist tomes are rare because there are very few groups that contain Ritualists that are easy to farm in Hard Mode.

Ever since they have been introduced ive had 1 non elite rit tome drop for me. And ive vanquished 18/33 zones in cantha.
VitisVinifera
no they are very popular, next to Monk they are probably the most spammed for. The thing is, like Monks, you generally don't see more than 1 in a mob. If I could get my hands on more Rit reg tomes I'd be very happy.
There just aren't many regular rits in NF and Factions to drop the tomes.

The Last Anthem
you cant find them? I keep getting them like no tomorrow and no one in my alliance ever wants them <_<, but maybe I'm just lucky.. I never go to trading districts so I never see what people have..ohwell
Evilsod
Ritualist tomes are bought up extremely fast. There just aren't enough Ritualists in the game for it to drop often enough. They only really exist in Cantha... and even then they're in unpopular mobs. Naga are nasty little gits with several interrupts. Jade Brotherhood are extremely deadly with interrupts. Carp aren't exactly easy to kill. Afflicted are out of the question. The only real mob are Wardens that are killed in huge quantities because they're good for HM boss runs.
MisterB
Nahpui Quarter seems like a good place to farm those; it's crawling with Ritualists(Star Lights). Nearly every third monster is a Rit. You could also get Monk tomes there by killing the Celestial Kirin.

The true reason lies that non-elite rit skills can be obtained very easily.
Once you're in Kaineng center, you have access near to all factions rit skills.
Then you travel to Kamadan, and there you have all non elite nightfall rit skills.
Just by taking the boat you can almost fully build your rit.
To the contrary of Core professions, who have many prophecies skills locked far from Lion's Arch, 90% of rit and assa skills are available quite right now.
Tome rarity is based upon the easy access or not of the related skills. Most good warrior elites can be capped near the biggest towns, for example. Rit elites (aka weapon of remedy), are on the contrary very far from the starting big towns. So the high price of rit elite tomes against the low price of their non-elite counterpart.

I was going to tell them 'lol, I should just go to the skill trainer then!', but I figured I'd keep searching to see if monk tomes really are more expensive than any other profession.
I've been trying to buy monk tomes for 2 weeks now. That's the best I've seen so far.
I ended up using my last remaining skill points to get the prot spells I wanted.

Yeah Hayes. Monk tomes are the hardest to buy so far.
Regular tomes I have not seen, but I've seen people selling elite rit tomes in kamadan and kaineng.
Keep trying, and always go to dis 1. There is a guy who always seems to sell em.

It's just outragious! True, monk tomes are kinda hard to farm; it would be hard if there were like 10 monks in a area togather. But I strangly remember there was always a monk with the bug groups in Kourna. I remember being pretty successful 130 dervish'ing them to death; 55'ing would be a breeze. Hmm... I mean, if I can take like 8 ghoals, 3 socorers, and 3 hell hounds in HM... I bet I could kill some insects. ... Oo <_< ... Shhh!
Tea Girl
i can hardly find normal monk tomes either
Kissa
I want ritualist tomes, too, but nobody seems to sell them. Maybe Rits are harder to farm.

hmmm... It might be that these people asking 1.5-3k for monk tomes are not such idiots. People who are trying to buy tomes are probably usually either out of skill points or trying to conserve on them... in which case the tome indeed can be worth more to the buyer than the 1k at the skills trainer.
EDIT:
I'm going for the legendary skill hunter title right now. I'm 19 elites away. I have four skill points and I'm going to make the most of them this weekend. I'm farming experience for more skill points and vanquishing concurrently. I want extinguish for my monk to use against HM Korshek in Forum Highlands. If it weren't for the fact I DO have a monk tome, I just might spend 1.5k for one (if I couldn't find one for less in a timely manner... since time is money).

I've been doing a bit of HM Nahpui soloing with 55 Mo/N. Got a normal rit tome last night and was happy. I would say that's a good place to farm them.
(then I got a rare r9 colossal scim in Zehlon and was VERY happy)

Well I tried to buy one for the first time last night. I spent over an hour hopping around the major trading centers "in both Cantha and Elona", and finaly got one for 2k in KC. I needed it to finish up a build for my R/Rt and I didn't feel like going through half of factions for 1 skill. So 2k was out of desperation. Anyway I do agree it's because not very mobs contain more then one or two ritualists. I doubt it's because they are unpopular.
Edit: My bad, "Undesired".

You'd pay more than 1k/ea if you didn't have skillpoints and didn't want to grind for them.

If a new character has access to the storage of their other characters, money generally isn't a major concern. However, until you've gone though a few missions and accumulated enough experience to get the skill points rolling, the ability of that character to purchase skills is dictated almost entirely based on how many skill points they have, and not how much gold they have.
Therefore, one of the only routes to get more skills (than their skill points allow) early in the game is to purchase tomes. Paying 1.5K for a tome versus 1K at a skill merchant isn't that much of an incremental cost, especially if you have no skill points left to spend.
VitisVinifera
I don't see why having a vast armory of skills is even necessary until lvl 20
the only reason to have many skills is for endgame content (elites) and farming
but that's just what floats my boat......others have their reasons

Yea there is no mobs (that i know of) made up of pure rits and no rit dudes are that commonly farmed. For a start they are cantha only, and unlike assassin there is no rit vermins.
