regeneration -1 wtf need help!
quadratics
Hey
Just a question:
i know sum swords like shiro swords, etc have health regeneration -1 life stealing 3.
Does this mean why holding this sword u continually lose 1 health and when u hit sum1 u get more health. If so wouldnt it be bad to use that weapon and could u die just standing around (answering phone, etc).
thanku 4 answering my nub question

Alright
#1: YES you WILL have a -1 health regen AT ALL TIMES.
#2: Yes, every time you strike with a sword, you will gain 3hp.
#3: If you forsee the need to go AFK for something, simply switch your weapon or unequip it (which you should do between fight anyways)

Yes. Weapons such as these are called vampiric weapons. While they can provide a steady but small stream of healing in combat, they will give you a permanent -1 health degeneration. If you're going to use vampiric weaponry, it's best to carry a second set of non-vampiric weapons for when you are not in battle.

I still dont understand why ppl would want a sword like that unless it looked awesome/glowed/rare. To my understanding the only place u would use it is in the thick of combat wer u r always attacking
Thx for answering my question so quickly
much appreciated

because it is free extra damage that is armor ignoring. You would only use this weapon when attacking. When inbetween mobs, you would swap out of your vampiric weapon.... and yes while there are skills that can regenerate your health, it is about a good of an idea to use these as it would by to play in traffic in rush hour blindfolded....

When not in battle, switch to another weapon.
Etta
Always have mutiple set of different dmg type weapons, elemental, slash, vamp etc. Some enermies have a high armor vs certain type of dmg, such as rangers. Some people use vamp mod for that extra kick add to the dmg because it will always active unlike sundering.
But only use it in a fight, then switch to a different set when you done, you have 4 weapon set up slots for a reason. Whatever you do, don't use mending to cancel out the degen, it makes you look stupid.

People use Vampiric weapons because sundering, as a rule of thumb, sucks.
The -1 degen is only really a threat if you lack the mental capacity to press F2 out of battle.

Well, I'm talking in terms of PvE, where straight extra damage owns the crap out of armour penetration (given higher armour of PvE mobs).
PvP's slightly different, I'll take sundering sets for higher-crit weapons there because sundering + crit + running squishy is fun

In addition to vamp weapons working especially well when used in conjunction with certain skills (i.e. skills that strike multiple targets, like Hundred Blades or Barrage, or strike the same target twice, like Sun and Moon Slash), there are also ways to negate the Health degen.
> If you have Mo 2nd, you can run Mending on yourself (at the cost of -1 Energy regen); of course, you have to be careful doing this, since many enemies can strip your enchantments.
> If your region has favor, you can buy a blessing at Dwayna's shrine for +1 H regen for 20 minutes.
> If you're in a Luxon- or Kurzick-controlled area of Factions, you can buy a blessingfrom the priests at the shrine in explorable areas that give +3 H regen for as long as you're in that map. This one's especially nice as you can then use that vamp weapon and still have +2 H regen.
A nice thing about the blessings is that they can't be stripped (like enchantments) and they last through death and res.
If you're going with a vamp waepon for the health benefits, you're probably better off just using a normal weapon and casting Vigorous Spirit on yourself (if you have Mo 2nd). If you're going with one for the added damage, just be smart and minimize the negative effects.

^^^^ Or, you could actually be smart, not running Healing Prayers crap, Flail in battle to maximize DPS, and F2 out of battle.
Vamp does not justify using Healing Prayers on a warrior.

Also switch weapons when you are blinded, your opponent is blocking or dodging, etc. Anytime you can't hit, you're going to be losing health...
But, when you are hitting you'll be doing extra damage plus healing yourself. This weapon also works well when your attack speed is boosted by various skills, or you're hitting multiple targets with skills like Cyclone Axe or Triple Chop.
Personally, I find the -1, + x energy weapons better for my builds, whcih require a lot of energy usage. The same premise applies: when not hitting, switch to another weapon (although unlike the Vampiric, the Energy loss just decreases your gain rate instead of actually losing energy).

Although at higher damage Sundering gets CLOSER to Vampiric, Vampiric continues to outperform Sundering on average.

I have to agree with "free_fall" any vamp weapons such as swords, axes, bows and dangers in combo with any skill that allows you to hit more than one enemy at once will allow you to do extra damage while healing your self.
I always use a monk secondary as this allows me to use ether Mending or Live vicariously to help offset the -1 health degen ,also switching to a second set of non vampiric weapon while not in combat is a must.

Try running into a huge mob, and using "100 Blades"

love the victors blade (req.9 Vamp Sword) and "100 Blades" combo.

Hundred Blades and Mending? I bet other players must stare in awe when you swap to your FDS.

lol - wasn't saying I do the Mending thing on my W, was just pointing out that it *could* be done (though not very well, based on some testing I did). That said, if I'm farming in Factions where the +3H regen is available then, sure, I'll whip out the Victo's and go to town.
On the other hand, Mending + vamp bow works so well on my Barrage ranger that he's become my prefered farming char.

It takes over 4 miniutes of being afk to die from the degen of a vamp weapon. Vampiric weapons do MORE damage then any other weapon AND heal you over time, thus why they are used. When you aren't attacking somebody, use a second weapon set (f1 and f2 keys).
