Lag Check
KANE OG
Seems like the European districts are starting to come around just in time for the American ones to go belly up. What happenned? Did we get a "new" server from Germany, or something?

Thankfully, my lag seems to have settled down except for the odd hiccup. A week ago it was unbearable and I had to stop playing Guild Wars, but now I can finish up my Legendary Guardian title now .
Joobers
For the last few days GW has been unplayable. I still log on to chat with my guildmates but that is really all I can do.
LumpOfCole
Minor spikes here and there. Nothing unplayable but noticable and bothersome every now and then.

Voted: Significant latency issues. (North America)
All of my best game friends from North America and I have been having ongoing problems with lag affecting playability for something like 2½ weeks. We live all over the USA, including Washington State, Illinois, and Washington D.C. It seemed like we all started having this problem at around the same time.
We usually play during "prime time," in the evenings (North America time), and we usually play Alliance Battle games. I'm not sure if the lag lets up at other times of the day or not, 'cause I usually don't play at other times.
I love the game, but I'm pretty convinced that there's something pretty serious going on here, and it's definitely affecting the fun factor for us. I'm hoping you'll be able to get to the bottom of things like you did with the Europe server connectivity problem. Thanks, Gaile and ArenaNet!

I'm located in Australia and I've had terrible latency issues since the EoN preview weekend. I have sent several reports to support and they've told me to do the usual (reboot modem, reboot system, disable AV/firewall/UPnP) to no avail. I can get decent pings through other game servers in the U.S as I play DoD:S through Steam but it's only when I play GW I get shocking lag spikes continuously regardless of when I play (anywhere from over 1,000 to over 42,000!)
ShadowStorm
I put down severe latency issues in the above poll because my ping tends to hover between 250 ms and 400 ms, according to the little dot in the corner of my screen. Occasionally it will spike up into the 1500 - 4000 ms range while fighting enemies, but this doesn't always happen, so I can still play.
I have a 2Mbs Cable connection, so this shouldn't be the case.
However, I do have an explaination for this. It may just be my video card. About 2 weeks before the GW:EN preview weekend, my video card died on me, and I had to replace it with with my old Nvidia 5600 XT card that I haven't used for a couple years. I'm only getting 10 - 15 FPS in explorable areas and as low as 4 FPS in some of the really populated outposts. So some of what appears to be latency issues on my computer could just be my computer struggling to update the FOV on my monitor.
I plan to get a new video card by the end of this month, so if this thread is still active around that time, I'll let you know if it was just my video card.
Edit: P.S. I live on the West Coast in USA. So my poll answer affects the North America region.

I saw a red lag dot for a little bit earlier today (I play afternoon-evening EST), and orange happens from time to time, however recently I haven't too many problems but it comes and goes. Weekends, particularly with big events tend to be the worst.

I voted that lag stops me from playing (euro)
but I live in the US
and I don't play

Voted severe lag europe.
GMT, late evening (10-11pm).
Seems only to be in GW:EN areas and major hubs (Lions, Ascalon). Seeing fluctuations between 70ms and 2000ms. Seeing some odd game behavior too: Fighting stopping then damage catch up 5 secs later and running the same 10 metres repeatedly.
Thought it could just be extra strain on the GW:EN servers as they stream out new content to players but the latencies have shown no signs of abating

You know this poll was wanted for last month right?
But anyway am having some problems but i think just due to high player activity since gwen

My ping averages from 400-500, from Perth, Australia. Its playable but interrupting and occasional jolts are no fun, but I am not surprised considering how far away the servers are.
-Loki-
Australia, American servers. Latency has been relatively decent lately, only a few spikes here and there. What a pity I don't PvP anymore. It would have been wonderful.
Vanquisher
I know myself and various Guild Mates are having massive problems with lag. It's been so bad for some of us recently that playing is almost impossible, and one member of my Guild can't play any role except a Paragon effectively.
Croco Clouds
I always have lagging or orange ping status since I have cheap DSL, so it's tough to judge if that's a server lag or not
Witchblade
why bumping this topic?
anyway, about this... pretty laggy as always
the green dot is just a dream ^^

Oops. I thought this was put up this last Thursday
Actually, I was having horrible lag problems during prime-time for several weeks now. (It was fine in the early morning), with spikes and freezes of over 20 seconds. I put in a support ticket on Thursday, but the update Thursday night seemed to have fixed it. Me and my wife played last night without issue.

This is exactly what is wrong with Anet.
You are polling a microscopic percentage of players .. many that rarely actually play the game.
Put these same kind of polls on the login screen PLEASE.
If you were to put a vote up for the actual general masses you would have fewer complaint threads and people that just give up and leave your game. You might *gasp* get an accurate sampling of how the community not just fans actually feel about the given poll.
On a side note ... which ever artist did the art work for the dungeons ... tell them thank you and give them a raise. Absolutely beautiful in some areas best of all 4 chapters.

Yay for thread Necromancy.. But than again, LAG is immortal.
Playing in Florida... Getting some odd spikes that starts me rubberbanding and the mobs and heroes/henchies teleporting around the screen. Usually only lasts for a few minutes at a time, even after my pings settle down to the 200-250 range. Weird but occasionally annoying.

Yes, I know this is an old poll, but I have been experiencing more and more lag issues lately. I think I originally voted some lag issues in North America, but lately I'm having more than just a few lag spikes. In particular, when playing Fort Aspenwood I feel bad for my teammates because many times I get all turned around, disorientated because of the lagging and rubberbanding. Quite frustrating.

Well no one here knows what Lagency than me. Iv went out playing GW for about week. Iv seen my Lag hit over 220k and i was getting D/C like candy. It still horrible that i have to quit GW because it making me lose connection and it take like hours hours to log back in with decent ping but that doesnt happen. Here a Good example Anet. I was in middle of Ooze Pit with good ping. But at one point i was lagging badly that it made me quit the game and i was almost beaten Ooze Pit so i didnt i got mad. So I beg you Anet plz fix it i cant GW at night now and im getting D/C alot lately.
Rikimaru
I selected Significant latency issues. It's actually not bad overall, except that it lags like unholy hell in major outposts, and for some reason 90% of the time I get an automatic lag spike each time I first start combat in an area. A couple times the game actually froze because the spike was so huge. And I have cable internet
Winterclaw
I saw a bit of orange this weekend and two people I know lost surivior characters to the problems.
blackknight1337
lag spikes every 20 sec or less, gg trying to monk with that lol
not much point in playing while its like this

D/C'ing every 2mins, 100,000+ ms complete joke basically. Any news on a fix for this?
Quantum Duck
(Washington State) I've had more lag than usual during the last couple weeks. Not enough to make it really unplayable, but enough that interupting skills is now very random, making Polymock really difficult.
Kusandaa
Montreal, Canada;
My problems are generally server-side, with over 10k lag spikes every now and then, random disconnects, rubberbanding (characters move all around the screen, yet nothing else is laggy, and I know this one isn't on my side since when I see it, all my team experiences the same). I know some of my problems are related to my connection, but very often I surf the web or chat without -any- problem, yet GW lags or even disconnects.

Horrible, horrible.
You didn't manage to fix anything Anet that's really problematic, I think you're not able to do anything about this.
Therefore you're loosing a customer.
11600 pings here, France, Montpellier, 20h30.

Im still getting significant latency issues, if that means slowing down and freezing up all the time. Only been happening since I got GW:EN.
My average ping has fallen from 230 to over 1000, which isnt as bad as others, buts still noticable. Im sure when I freeze it goes a lot higher.

I used to have bad lag but then I upgraded my computer and have none.
Alot of peoples issues(not all but alot) are because of there own PCs
My average fps is 60 and ping 47.

Significant Latency Issues (North America)
Basically my ping to the Guild Wars server is never below 160, and on an average night will bounce between 160-300. On an irregular basis, there are lag spikes of multiple seconds. I play a lot of fps and typically my ping is 55-65 to east usa, 85-100 central usa, 100-120 western usa. I'm not really sure where I'm getting routed to never drop below 160. I've tried running trace routes to the server ip, but packets are denied beyond a certain point.
The game is still playable, since twitch reactions are not as crucial as in a FPS, but for interrupts and monking, the inconsistency is frustrating.

Average 150-300ms, connecting from Italy.
In the last 3-4 days I randomly get horrible lag spikes (1-2 seconds) every 10-20 seconds. Happens both in pvp and pve. (of course I ran antivirus and ad-aware and defragged countless times).

North America here. I had a bit more rubberbanding than usual, ping bubble went red here and there and caused some slowdown, but nothing that made the game unplayable.
artay
In Australia, Queensland area and I usually average around 300ping, During the event, like lots of people, I had a few lag problems. But it seems to have settled down now so no problems from me.
