New Guy Trouble with Frost Gate Mission-Pulling

I am a Level 13 W/Mo trying to complete the Frost Gate mission with just henchmen. I can get to the part where you face two Dolyak Riders or if I try the bonus, I reach three Dolyak riders. How do I pull them successfully with a warrior? Do I use a bow and let them come to me? Do I aggro them and then run back (won't my hench aggro them as well and attack)? Parden the ignorance, but pulling has given me problems. I have been playing Proph. for 3 months. Any help would be appreciated!!

The damage output of henchmen is usually not very good. So you'll have a hardtime killing 2 monks side-by-side.

I'd suggest PuGing, and splitting the firepower. At least one person pressuring one monk while the others take out the second one.

Theres normaly 4 Dolayks there, with the right build u can take them all out at once, but if ur having problems it is possible to pull them apart (there 2 of them and some other dwarves in each party, there being 2 partys on that hill in total) Simply aggro 1 group and pull them far enough away from the other to they wont try to heal them and they should go down ncie and easy, remeber to bring interupts and if u have heroes and a Necromancer or Mesmer to completly ruin the Dolyaks.

Alternativly as suggested above; PUG it.

If you wish help, I'll help you. I have a Ritualist that needs this mission and bonus to go towards my protector title.

I'd suggest pull with a bow, and flag your henchies at about 1/2 down the entrance of the path. Maybe 1/3? Anyway, you can still kill them, just may take a little time.

Add me to friends. Dargoth Alfazul. My Rit's name is Wang Fujin.

Good luck!

Hoo boy, that mission gave me a hard time back than, too (and just recently, doing it in Hard Mode). For a first timer, if you try to fight the whole lot at the bonus at once, you'll get most likely your rear end handed to you on a silver platter.

As mentioned before, the "whole lot" is actually two groups with two Dolyaks each. They can be seperated from each other, and that is what you should attempt to do. It is a little tricky.

Now for the pulling part... Use the henchmen control flag to make your henches stay back. They should be about one and a half aggro circles away from the opponent you want to pull. Then aggro the closest of the opponents. This can be done by simply walking close enough so that he's inside your aggro zone, or more elegantly by using a long bow or flat bow (which have a range that is larger than the aggro circle). Immediately after the opponent has noticed you (or after you have fired the arrow, you don't have to wait till it hits) start walking backwards. Moving backwards is slower than forward, which means the opponents will slowly catch up with you. This makes it less likely for them to break aggro as you move away from them. Take a look at the red dots on the radar. How many are following you? If it is the whole lot, turn around and run! Flag your henchies further away. Once you have moved far enough they will lose aggro and return to their initial position and you can try again.

If the pull went right and only one of the groups is following, slowly lead them back to your waiting henchies. Immediately focus fire on one of the Dolyaks.

Note that if you didn't pull the group far enough, the Dolyaks from the other group may notice their comrade being in distress and come to his aid, meaning you'll have both groups on your throat again. So make sure you have sufficient distance from the other group before you start the fight. It will still be tough, but two Dolyaks at once are doable while four at once are simply impossible.

Also note: Clear that place before you talk to the dwarf in the cave to obtain the bonus. Otherwise he'll follow you to the place and will very likely foil your attempts at pulling (he'll not stay back with the henchies).

So what your saying is that the part in the normal mission where there are two Dolyaks by the lever cannot be pulled apart. The flag idea is a great idea. I didn't think of that. I tried attacking the two Dolyaks in the normal mission and got my but handed to me. Of course with all henchies. Thanks for the offers for help.

Really pay attention to this tip, because beside him ruining the pulling, if he dies in the fight with them (which he seems ever so very happy to do), the bonus dies with him.
