UAX and PvP editions
bilateralrope
As of this post I have everything unlocked for Prophesies, Factions and Nightfall apart from some Nightfall-only skills. But when checking through the in-game store, I see that the add to cart button for the factions and prophesies PvP editions isn't grayed out like it is for full editions of the chapters on my account.
I'm assuming that this means that despite the prophesies and factions PvP editions doing nothing for me, I'm still able to spend money on them. While I know I won't make that mistake, and that its not an easy mistake to make, I can see people being really pissed off if they do.
So I'm proposing that if you have unlocked everything that one of the PvP editions will provide, then you will be unable to buy it. The add to cart button will be grayed out and the description for it will state that you are not able to make any use of it because you already have UAX for that chapter.
If there are other things that currently show up after you click the add to cart button to prevent you making a useless purchase, or to warn you that your about to do so, please tell me about them.

You have all the core skills too right?
Each pvp pack provides the core skills in them, just making sure
Yes this should be added.

I would make them unlock all the non-elite non-rare skins for the PvP characters you have or create, and allow PvP characters to choose animal companions and things like that.
That way people would have a reason to purchase them.

No, no.
The point is not 'if I already have that gray them'.
That won't make them have any use.
Things in a shop are meant to be purchased.
If you have no reason to purchase them, they have to give you one then, not just forget about it.
Currently, they give absolutely nothing to those (like me) who have already unlocked everything.
Just by making they have something else, there would be a reason to.
Otherwise they existence would be meaningless, and that's just awful.

And its not like our suggestions can't co-exist. If the PvP editions are changed to offer more stuff, then the conditions required to gray them out change. If the PvP editions provide something the full chapters don't, then it would invalidate my suggestion. But since I don't see any suggestion threads asking for that, I see no reason to take it into account.

Its a different suggestion to my OP. And since the implementation of my suggestion doesn't effect your suggestion, I don't see any reason as to why we are discussing it here instead of over it its own thread. So why haven't you made a thread for it yet ?
MithranArkanere
Because you started this thread about the PvP editions, no need for more.
Suggestions are not just to post and idea and get a bunch of '/signed' or '/unsigned'. just posting /signed or /unsigned is actually against the rules o the section.
Here's the rule I followed:
If your idea is a slight change of another suggestion that's already been suggested, don't post a new thread on it, post it in the existing thread and continue the discussion over the general idea.
This idea is about the behavior of the PvP editions.
You want them to be grayed once you have unlocked all the stuff they give.
But the shops works in a way that it detects the codes you already own.
So making them grayed would be exactly the same as giving you those editions for free, giving you three free codes for a total price of 107,97€. Aw... Giving thins completely for free is not What companies do. Thay may give 'cheaper things' or 'teasers' so you buy more. But giving things for freee, you make no money. Companies make money.
You can spend money on them, yes, but no one forces you to.
A credit card number is required. And I seriously doubt that someone's young brother would enter the correct 16 number combination of a credit card by accident or something like that, plus the CVV code.
So. How to solve this? The solution is easy.
To make them have any use, they must provide something that can't be obtained in no other way, so getting them would have any use, even for those who have unlocked everything already.
What's my point? Having them purchasable do not hurt you unless you have some serious OCD problem.
Giving them for free hurts Anet.
So both sides won't get hurt, they must provide something that can't be got in any other way. So purchasing them have any sense even for those that have already unlocked everything.

/signed on the original idea, they should grey the purchase if you get nothing out of it. This can be distinguishable from a person who bought the PvP edition if desired.
Mithran, I think the goal of the PvP editions is mainly for people to buy a cheaper version of a chapter if they just want to PvP and don't care about PvE at all. I think the main demographic is for people to buy one or the other and the few who get both is just icing on the cake for Anet.
Anet has your money in their pocket for the PvE edition so I don't think greying an item in the online store is going to kill them.
