It now seems that the party formation window is fixed at a certain size no matter how many in the party.
Go solo and you have alot of space that can't be shut down to just your solo character.
Sure you can resize horizontally but not vertically.
Anyone else noticed this today? Suppose you can always turn off the party window!!!

Umm...the party window now goes to the size of the party, and if your solo it should just be yourself in the box without much room on the bottom.

Why on Earth did they do that? Anet with another moronic improvement. Leave the Party window such that we can adjust the size while it additionally auto sizes once we change party membership. ::rollseyes

Yeah, this is nothing new.. and I think they meant to do well, but it didn't translate into a great change. I'm very picky about my party window, like I know others are.. I'm a perfectionist in having everything aligned perfectly. This has thrown everything out of whack and.. i dunno, it's not a BIG deal, but it sure can be annoying. The thought was nice, but the execution didn't come through too well.

I hate this update! It is essentially like when they changed the Attributes Panel arrows, only they fixed that back to normal (though not for months).
My UI is designed for the party window to stretch to the bottom of the screen, thereby filling up the right edge.

I like the automatic resizing of the party window, but it's far too easy to accidentally close the 'Allies' tab, because if you click anywhere on the entire width of the party window that's in line with the word Allies, it will collapse. I think it should only collapse or expand if you click on that little +/- button on the left, rather than anywhere on that entire row.
After playing for a few hours tonight I've accidentally collapsed the window probably 8 or more times. May not sound bad, but try having it happen to you in the middle of an intense fight and see if you think the same.

Anyways, Anet fixed it, so there;s no need to say Anet is stupid or anything, it was a bug and they knew it, so they fixed it.

I like the new party window. It finally works as it should (imo) and finally stays at it's place instead of moving by itself.

The new window a huge improvement, IMO. Since I'm not running the game at a gigantic resolution, there are times when I have to resize the window manually to accommodate allies and NPCs, and when I'm in the Deep or Urgoz having a person invite themselves causes the window to jump out of position because it can't extend down far enough. Now everything is done automatically.
If the window is showing lots of blank space in a party of 1 like the OP is describing, then it's a bug (one that was fixed, according to Rampager).

I preferred it before personally, ok, occasional jumping could get annoying, but it wasn't that common, and I preferred being able to resize it, as I think it looks weird atm

The party window is just damn annoying. I play a lot of TA (TA guild) and every time you reach a priest map or similar it resizes itself larger and coveres up my health/energy bars.
Need an option to make it rescale from the bottom or top -_-

wow, i've been offline (with a crashed computer) for the last 3 weeks and i still knew that. i'd have thought they would've changed it by now...reinstalling and still only 35% done with the -image so i guess they could change it before i'm done.
