If the online store times out when you go to finish the transaction, don't repush the button. It will charge you twice. It just did it to me

Yes, i also got charged twice. It said it timed out so i tried again and it said the same thing. I then checked my online banking and yes i have been charged twice for it.

We better get a refund.

Well it timed out 2 times on me and after waiting a while and checking my email
I was only charged 1 time with 1 confirmation email
So if it times out WAIT don't keep pressing purchase button but
check your email first
I'm sure you can dispute 1 or the 2 charges contact suport or billing

I had it time out when I tried getting the Pre-Order. Then when I tried a second time, it gave me an error, saying that it had failed. I then checked my account keys and say that the Pre-Order stuff was there.

I've only received one e-mail, so I'll assume that it only charged me once.

To the people saying "i only received one confirmation email so it must have only charged once" let me say this - i also only received one confirmation email but the amount that was deducted from my credit card is enough for two. I will have to wait and see what transactions show up on it before i contact Support/Billing but i do know the amount for two has indeed been deducted. No other transactions have been taken out, and i had zero balance on the credit card so anything that came out was to PlayNC/ArenaNet.

I suggest checking your account balance/online banking to see how much was deducted.

Everyone go check the plaync.com website and go to billing transaction along with your game account to see how many purchases you made recently along with how many pre-orders you made on the account. On my brother's i see 2 pre-orders on his game account at play nc however, it only shows on billing transaction order.

i got charged for it once even though i clicked it again after the timeout and it timed out again. online banking says i only got charged once i just hope there is a second one >_<

Well, thats interesting.

First of all, I got the confirmation email- but my online banking hasn't registered the charge yet. Odd.

Second of all, I decided to buy the GOTY upgrade (cause i could, no other reason ^_^) And its saying now that the processor assumes its a fradulent order. So maybe that's the fail-safe, cause I hit the transaction button like 10 times, and I only got one email. Still waiting to see what happens when my online banking updates.

Ok just to make sure what I was charged I just checked my plaync account and bank
Bank is only 1 charge and plaync account says
Jul 20 2007 Guild Wars: Eye of the North™ Prerelease Bonus Pack [ingame code purchase] £3,49 (GBP)
So i have only been charged 1 time thank heavens
even if I pressed it 2 times after the first timeout
sorry to you all that is getting charged more than 1
but keep the records and dispute it ASAP to your bank AND Plaync

I made the mistake of trying again after a failure

I hope we get refunds...

The specifics for me included: During the transaction I got a message that said "distribution failed" but it still made the pre-order unavilable again by changing it to "Already Purchased". Now I don't know if its unlocked properly or not, and have no way to find out...

I just wanted to share something i found elsewhere, in regards to being charged more than once.

There was a error at the store (they admitted it) but the charges on your card is your banks "pending" orders. The error caused my bank to think two charges came through, so they reserved the amount. When only one order was "closed" on anets side, the bank removed the second charge 3 days later, automatically. The time for removing the charges varies by bank. In the case of a debit card, the money is still in the account, it hasn't been moved to anet, it's held in "reserve" pending the bank getting the final close.

My error was fixed by the bank while I was talking with anet support. The store will not "close" the deal on any orders past your first, and the bank will remove them in a short amount of time. The "already purchased" feature prevents them from adding more than one of the same key code to your account.

Maina So hopefully for the people (including me) that have been "charged" more than once, everything will be fixed up good as new.

Tick "Manage Access Keys" and click next. You should see a section that says "You have added the following extra features to your account". Under that look for any of the following: Glacial Blade, Hourglass Staff, Darksteel Longbow, Guild Wars Eye of the North World Preview Event.

If all of them are on there, then you have the pre-order. Also check your email account for an email confirming the purchase.

Hmmm...the store timed out about 4 times, but in the end it did add the keys to my account and it shows "already purchased" for GW:EN. However, I didn't receive a single confirmation email - is that a bad thing? :S According to my bank, my card was only charged once (so far).


Edit: I finally figured out my playNC password and checked the billing page, I was only charged once. Although it says I added two "pre-order" keys to my account today.

What was in those confirmation emails anyway?

Incidentally, my account does show the special items, so I shall just have to wait and find out if it worked...
