Nahqui quarter mission farming
silent but true
Hi somewhere on one of the forums I found a topic, that explains how to kill spirit light (nightmare weapon problem) in HM, so I can farm bosses and other foes for celestial weapons, but I cant find the link.
The skills I use to counter (but not kill) them so far as 105 monk are;
PS, SOA, spirit bond, SOJ, mystic regen/HB, divine aura, balthazars spirit, essence bond.
stats; 13/14 smite, 13/14 protect, 9 divine, 8 earth/9 heal
Anyone got any ideas or counter builds for 105 monk?
Thank you in advance for any replies

I'd imagine Scourge Healing would make them pretty easy to kill.

To farm Naphui Quarter, I use my 330hp and works pretty fast. But it does not kill the Lights... I usually just kill the warriors and rangers and just run on by to next group.
VitisVinifera
I use 55 mo/n, with sv, vamp gaze, and scourge healing
there are lots of walls to use so their nightmare weapon cant hit you

i farm nahpui a lot, as i love celestial swords. it's VERY easy to do with the following build:
55 N/Mo (or Mo/N, which you'd have to be)
[skill]Protective Spirit[/skill][skill]Shield of Absorption[/skill][skill]Spirit Bond[/skill][skill]Insidious Parasite[/skill][skill]Spiteful Spirit[/skill][skill]Essence Bond[/skill][skill]Balthazar's Spirit[/skill][skill]Watchful Spirit[/skill]
it is run at 105hp. i use kephket's refuge. as for attributes, max out curses and prot. killing lights here is simple: bring melee/archers next to to the lights, and use SS on the physical damage dealer. when it recharges, put it on the light. maintain P on the light. it'll die. this build can handle 2 casts of nightmare weapon at once. manage your health with SoA, if nightmare weapon goes on, hit spirit bond to make sure you heal up. you can farm the phoenix and the kirin, prbably the dragon as well. not the turtle. gaze of contempt ftl.

Thanx for the ideas, I will try walls, scourge heal, might try the SS option but swap watchful for the other 3-4 pip regen enchantment.
also is SV just for per target unlike SS for more and I cant remeber if mesmer's in hm can strip enchantments.?

sv is just 1 at a time, vamp gaze is to finish them when they are below 55 health (when sv won't work)
there are only wars, rangers, and rits (then the bosses but I leave them alone)
I just did a run where I got 9 rares, 3 lockpicks, some tomes, and I just gave up because I didn't have anything I could afford dropping if another rare did
personally i ALWAYS have a wall between me and the rits because 1 hit from nightmare weapon and it's game over

Try this:
Nahpui Quarter (HM) M/x solo-farm.
Skills:
Essence Bond
Balthazar Spirit
Protective Spirit
Spirit Bond
Shield of Absorption
Spear of Light
Scourge Healing
Shield of Judgement
Attributes:
Smiting Prayers 16
Protection Prayers 14
Divine Favour 9
Weapon:
+20% enchantment
Halves recharge of spells (20%)
Kephkets Refuge is optimal
Armor(15AL):
Superior Rune of Smiting + scalp
Superior Rune of Protection
Superior Rune of Divine
2 x Runes of Attunement
5 x Radiant Insignias
This will leave you with 255 hp(wich is needed to counter Nightmare Weapon wich Star Lights use)
I prefer entering the right portal and follow the map clockwise.
Kill all the Star Tengus (avoid the bosses)
As soon as you have agro 1-3 groups(no more then 3 Star Lights),
cast Scourge Healing on Star Lights(make sure its recasted) then hit SoJ.
Hit Star Lights with SoL everytime its recharged(make sure SoA is on every time you cast Scorge Healing and use Spirit Bond when SoA ends and isnt recharged)
This way the Star Lights should drop first(usually after 1 SoJ)
The only thing that can kill you is Nightmare Weapon(considering you fail to maintain your enchantments)
If you mess up and theres 1 Star Light left, quickly run behind a wall and regain Energy.
You can easily kill a Star Light 1 on 1 with full energy and all spells recharged(counter NW with Spirit Bond), but shouldnt be needed.
Drops are pretty good (i had up to 7 Celestial Weapons + 2 golds, lots of purples, dyes, tomes etc) in 1 run.

Does this work in HM? and do you think its better to take [skill]Mending[/skill] instead of [skill]Watchful Spirit[/skill] ?

nine breaker
Watchful Spirit is better for this build because it does not require points in healing prayers.
Fuzzy Taco
that build is designed for HM (NM they don't attack fast enough) and nine breaker is correct, watchful wins because you need no point is healing prayers to make it good.
silent but true
thank you for the replies (8 especially cos it it explains it v well like others do) but is 225 hp required? considering that spirit bond can can heal u fast as 105 monk. Unfortunately I probably wont have time to play gw until the weekend because of work and getting used to hours (tiredness.
