Guild Wars pre-order questions

So I just pre-ordered the game from EB and got a box with some stuff in it. Like pretty much everyone I pre-ordered the game so I can play the beta weekends and keep the names of my characters that I have been having since the E3demo. I want to know how does this work though? When I used the key that I got does the key somehow allow me to keep those names for the full version or what? Also what if I want to create a new name and its taken for the beta weekend. If that person that has the name I wanted doesnt pre-order will I beable to then use that name when the full is released? What I'm getting at here is if you don't pre-order your character names get erased right?

your character and name are part of the account you set up
the preorder key is good ONLY until the 28 midnight when you will have to input the retail key you get from the full game box
when it goes retail your character is slagged to level 1 with everything gone from inventory except normal starting gear and the preorder item
if you have a preorder the name is saved a weekend random pass is not
if the name you want comes up as taken you can count on it being another preorder so try another
changing name from one character of yours to another is in the FAQ
