Hall of Monuments Speculation
X Cytherea X
So, the Hall of Monuments is a place in GW:EN that allows you to "immortalize" your GW1 characters' achievements so that your GW2 character inherits some unique titles, minipets, armor, and heroes, right?
Then when GW2 comes out, and you're playing GW1 at the same time, every time you get a new title in GW1, it will magically appear in your GW2 account? So it's not a one-time deal, but essentially a continuous connection to the past, that transcends the fabric of time and space!! Is that how you all think it will work? Sounds pretty super to me.

Gaile has stated that is exactly how it will work.

GW is a fantasy game. Lots of magic and all that stuff.

It doesn't transcend anything! What you do in GW1 even after starting GW2 account has still happened before GW2
(but that also means when you start a GW2 account anything that you are ever going to achive should be in there )

She has!? Could you post a link to where she has confirmed this? Thanks.
That would be great if it turnes out true! I don't know about others, but I will still probably play GW every now and then even after GW2 comes out. Especially if there is any more new content between GW:EN and then.

This is great, it means I don't have to bust my ass now to try and finish every collection.
I can wait and see what Item I want in Guild Wars 2, and then do the appropriate thing in Guild Wars to get it!

Aside from adding heros to the game this was a very cool move by Anet.

I'm wondering however if the Hall of Monuments is character specific or account wide. Say I get my Necro to the HoM, and I put in a record of my carographing abilites. But in the past, I missed the chance to get the survivor title or the Defender of Ascalon title. So if I bring character with these titles, will their titles add to the Necro I create in GW2 (in image of my cartographing Necro), or will it have to be on a seperate character?

I think it's safe to assume it'll be account based...you'll tie 1 (or maybe more) Guild Wars Account to a Guild Wars 2 Account...thus giving you any achievements of any of the characters on that account.
At this point it's entirely speculation...and we probably won't know until we get much closer to Guild Wars 2.
The Survivor/Defender of Ascalon titles are a perfect example of a reason why it would need to be account based. You can't currently get those on the same character...because you have to death level to get defender (I'm working on that now with a character).

The most logical way for the HoM to work would be how the current title system works. You have account titles and character based titles. When linking your GW1 account to your GW2 account all your GW2 characters will get the benefits that are implemented due to your account tiles.
The character based titles will only transfer over their benefits to whatever GW2 character you link to the GW1 character with said titles.
This would mean that a collection of titles over the account would not add up and give uber benefits to a single GW2 character, and I know that is what most people want, but it is the most logical way for anet to approach the HoM transfering.

My guess is, for each title, there is a monument that gets bigger and better as one of your characters completes that title track, it should tie to all accounts. The hall is a representation of your ACCOUNT'S achievements and any character can "contribute" to a monument.

It appears to be account based. Can't definitely confirm that, but one of the screenshots did show the armour statues and some of them looked like Warrior sets, while others looked like Assassin and Ranger sets.
You couldn't see them all that well though, so I could be mistaking.
