I was trying to buy a miniature Madragor Imp, and every minute or so i said "buying mandragor imp minipet". I minimised the window and when i opened it again i was on the character select screen. when i tryed to play on one it said my account had been banned for about 71 hours for trade spam!

Me being new to the game; I didn't know i could be banned for this, so i'm a bit annoyed and frustrated that there was no warning that icould be banned it just said i had said the message too much.

I don't want assholes coming onto this saying "ooh you shouldn't have spammed then" cause its not helpful and it makes me want to break somthing

I just want to know really if there is any way i can officially appeal this ban.

before you log in, there are announcements to the right. one of them is about spam and using the wrong channels. its just a 3 day ban, not permanent. take it as a warning, do something else for a couple days, and know not to do it again.

Boo hoo. Sorry, but no sympathy from me whatsoever. There is a warning. Its right on the log in screen in the bulleted notes. Also you had to have noticed the channel names, one of them being All and one of them being Trade. Any reason you chose the one channel over the other? Its what caused the ban.

Its been done to death on the forums. You could contact Support and plead your case citing new player etc. Its on the PlayNC site. Sign up and make an account there, then go to Support and ask a question and tell them what happened. Its not likely to be reversed, but give it a shot. Best of luck. Otherwise, do something else for a little bit.

Twice even.
In the EULA, which you apparently did not read and also on the login screen in the top right hand corner, the line that says "changes to chat."

Oh and BTW, what you can do in the meantime....read the EULA.

well were you trading in all chat? If so then yeah new rule a couple weeks ago officially says you cant trade in all chat.

But i believe it was said that you cant get banned for spamming in trade chat. Thought gaile said something like it.

There was A LOT of debate on the forums here about All channel spamming vs using the actual Trade channel. Spamming had gotten out of hand in the game, so the temp ban solution was what was chosen, for better or for worse. I for one support it, but didnt mean to be harsh in my reply either. I dont think a temp ban for All channel trade use is harsh since it was the only thing that seemed to actually start to limit spamming some.

Anyway, try Support. If you have but a few hours to your account, maybe they will reverse it in this case as its too bad to have to start out that way, but I guess now you know not to spam. ^^ And welcome to GW. Dont let this little thing be a downer. Its just a couple days and you can have back at it.

correct. It only applies to All chat. They just want to reduce the amount of trade spam in All Chat since there is a Trade Channel. This was a move called for by the community...so you won't find much sympathy here...

It's best to stick to the trade channel...you won't get in trouble then. Primarily bans are for people who regularly advertise in All chat...a message here and there probably will go unnoticed.

The point is that i was banned and was looking to appeal it, i'm not looking for sympathy, i posted to ask where i could appeal it and also said that a 3 day ban is rather harsh for a mishap such as this... I don't usually read the announcements, and there was little warning in the text box saying i could be banned for this. If there was a message like that, i wouldn't even have posted here.

You can appeal at support.guildwars.com
It will take more than 3 days and they won't repeal the ban or the warning because you're guilty. :-)

Are u going to come back and continue to spam? Likely your gonna say No!

Then its not that harsh, its effective. Spamming has reduced in towns since the first lot of banning and I hope more people are temp banned! Keep out towns and outposts spam free!

Auction Houses and spam have nothing to do with each other. If you dont have an Auction House, use the Trade channel. Its no excuse to spam, since trying to sell on the All channel isnt going to sell it any faster anyway. If you do have an Auction House, you should still use the correct channel.

Just take the two lessons and run:
1. Read the announcements, keep up with game updates.
2. Trade using the trade channel. It's there for a reason.

It's a temporary ban. By the time you end up contacting support and varifying all the necessary information, you'd at best knock 1 day off the ban. At worst you'd just end up being frustrated by the repeated banging of your head against a wall (a wall that happened to have put all reasonable effort into warning you about the outcome of posting sales content in all chat).

They don't over use the announcements on the right side of the sign in screen. Currently it holds warnings there to protect you... fairly important things to be mindful of. The other common posts are the subject of a weekend event, or an upcoming release. I know as a new player you might be eager to rush in and play. But as a new player you should be mindful of announcements that are made to help you. It's not like this was burried in the pages long EULA, masked with legal speak. It's under a bold heading on the sign in screen, in plain English.

it was a rule, and you broke it.

Its more like common sense to know that covering chat in your text over and over isn't a good idea, regardless if there are rules against it or not.

Plus, how new can a player be if he's spamming to buy a minipet? If he has enough money to buy a minipet, and it's on his priority list, he either bought gold on ebay or has been playing for a few weeks. i.e., almost from the time the ban went into effect.

Well, as a general rule when you're banned, you should go on a popular fan site for the game and cry about it. That's always the best way to deal with things.

Yeah it's frustrating when you didn't know about spamming but it's a slap on the hand and not too bad.

If you knew that spamming was bad then you got caught
If you didn't know well you damn well know now and won't do it again

As someone else said above it's effective.
Hell I once went a whole 80 hours without loggin in!!!?!? ridiculously long time I know!
