If Only They Would Merge GW and WoW...

As said, playing WoW will convince you not to buy other games, thus saving money in the long run.

Oh I agree, if WoW would have the graphics and interphase of GW, I'd play it, despite the monthly fee! But as it's now it's too cartoonish and I never like to play cartoonish games.
GW2? Nah, it won't be a combination of WoW and GW1. It will be more of GW1 without levelcap, but only in name, since I don't expect us to get much stronger after level 20.
Yeah, get rid of that loot scaling and let an old solo merc keep all the loot dropped. Sharing with the ones I command... Bah!

I can understand why casual players wouldn't subscribe at any pay scale. I don't understand why casual tv watchers insist on subscribing to the amounts that the satellite/cable tv companies charge them though, which seems to be common.

Well too bad ANet are a bunch of retards and Blizzard are the best in the business..

This thread is pointless now and should probably be closed before it gets spammed any worse than it is.

Lots of haters on both side...I didn't realize the animosity between both games was so bad.

World of Warcraft is one of the WORST games I have played. My first month, I had to literally force myself to play it. Needless to say, I gave up pretty damn fast.
And personally, I think the supposed high/limitless level cap for Guild Wars 2 is going to be by far the single worst aspect of the game (even if it is purely cosmetic).

I'm really curious as to why all the people who replied to this thread and so obviously hate this game are spending their time on a forum dedicated to that game. Do you just sit in the back corner and wait for an opportunity to complain about a game you don't play? Go outside.
I have nothing bad to say about World of Warcraft because I've never played it. And I won't play it, because I'm just not interested in it. And despite everyone's arguments about the monthly fee, no matter how many numbers you throw out there, casual gamers are still not going to want to pay $15 a month for a game they only spend a couple hours a week playing.
Personally I'd rather not see either game merged. There's beauty in originality, and originality is severely lacking in the gaming community right now. Every game is just a rehash of another that came out a year before. Obviously you can't be completely original in every aspect of a game, but adding a different touch to certain features goes a long way.
And how people can say GW2 will just be another WoW when there's literally only a paragraph of worthwhile information on the game is beyond me. Who knows what GW2 will be like, it's a long way off. I know everyone can't wait to start complaining about ANet and how they ruined GW2, but please, save it for when the game actually comes out.

When Arena net Speaks out about how Guild Wars 2 won't be a WoW killer I admit that worries me. You might as well be saying "our new game will be good but we don't expect it to be good enough to take profits from the competition". Now from what we know about Guild Wars 2 it looks as if Arena Net is continuing the tradition of taking the best ideas of all the other games plus unique new features and roll it up in a pretty nice package. Let's hope they are honestly using that mindset on Guild Wars 2. I don't want GW2 to be a WoW killer, I want it to be Every other MMO killer. I want GW2 to kick so much ass all the other developers just sit back in awe of it's greatness.
As far as the pay to play goes, it's not just about the money issue for me. Sure it's affordable to plenty of people, I'm not made of money but I could afford it. The real issue I have with it is mere principle. I think pay to play sets a bad precedent in the gaming industry. The more Dev's and Pub's see that they can produce a product that can generate constant revenue on a monthly basis while questionably adding more content or less lag for the consumer poses a major threat. More and more companies see that and decide to go the same route. Eventually the consumer doesn't have many options on what game they want to play anymore because they can't afford to pay several monthly fees just to have some variety in their video gaming. This isn't that big of an issue yet, but it will be. As technology advances there will be more and more genre bending and you'll start seeing monthly fees for games outside of the rpg realm.
That's a big reason why I am loyal to Arena Net and enjoy Guild Wars. I truly hope that Arena Net can continue to produce fantastic products so that consumers who pay additional fees will realize how unreasonable these companies really are.

I can understand being modest about your creations and i'm sure a few guys over at Anet still have good relations with some of those at Blizz but that doesn't justify downplaying your product especially when it comes to the competition.

28 € * 4 = 112 € = 153 $.

Since a Blizzard + ArenaNet venture seems unlikely in the near future, and this thread has largely degenerated into a World of Warcraft vs Guild Wars argument, I'm going to close this.
You're free to make more detailed suggestions in Sardelac Sanitarium on how you think Guild Wars 2 should be made, but threads like these tend to erupt into off-topicness at best, and outright flamefests at worst.
