I was wondering if the new update that added the land for GW;EN has affected the map coverage for the Grandmaster Cartographer title for Tyria. Last night I explored....I'd say at least 50% of the fire islands and the last 3 missions of Prophecies. I also explored a very large chunk of the southern Shiverpeaks and I noticed I only got about 1.1 percent towards the map coverage. I was at 94.2 and after several ours in those two areas I only got 95.1 now.

Now I have been doing this for months now and I believe I have almost all the map done, yet before the GW;EN map update I believe I got more percentage towards the title for the amount I have covered in the past few days.

Anybody else have this problem? Sound like a pretty good point to you? Since the map is larger then each step you take counts to a smaller % then it did in the past? Just by comparing my map to other 100% documented maps....there is no way I can get another 4.9% at this rate. I'm confused

Hmm it also doen't help the fact that when you zoom out to view the entire Tyrian map it is too large and the area that you have covered does not stand out anymore. Any ideas if ANet will change the style of the map? Doesn't look like anybody has noticed these problems yet I guess.

It hasn't affected Tyrian map coverage. A.Net would have been unwise to make it include in Tyrian GMC, as all those who had maxed the title would have lost a point towards KoaBD/PKM etc.

100% is certainly possible for any character. I thought the same as you did when I hit 95% or so. The rest will very likely be comprised of small portions of <.1% spread all around the map, particularly at the edges of explorable areas. Just exploring so the map looks clear is not enough, you have to virtually hug walls around every single area; it clears the map more, even if it looks like no fog is generally removed.

Good luck with it.

Well, I haven't done any more mapping since the update, but I am sitting at 99.1% Tyria on my Cartographer. I will say that I am not necesarrily surprised at your change in % for exploring those areas. Unless you had NEVER been there before, the changes are extremely small. When I got GMC in Cantha, I was at 99.4% for a long time. Getting to the 99.4% mark I would notice the 'fog' disappear while mapping, and check my title for a change. However, the las 0.6% never showed me a change on my maps fog. Although the 'fog' may be gone, it doesn't mean you actually got everything mapped. Make sure you hug the walls and move SLOWLY while doing it, make sure you criss-cross the middle efficiently, and make sure you explore the cities as well, as many have spots to open up the map that you may not notice (Aurora Glade for example).

The maps in the link above use the U map instead of the world map. That should remain materially unchanged from the updated map and has the benefit of not being obscured by the clouds.

I found it was best to run GW in a window, then pick a point on the 100%map and mark it with the mouse cursor. Then alt tab to the GW U map and adjust that until the two points were the same. Then just alt tab back and forth looking for areas you haven't cleared.

Good luck. Definitely takes a while.

When you compare a 100% screenshot to a non-100% screenshot, the differences will still show.
But it became harder when looking at your own map alone.

That depends on the way of looking.
On U-maps, the differences would be hard to see indeed.
On the zoomed-out maps, the remaining fog is easier to spot when you know what to look for. For Cantha the combination of U-map and zoomed-out compare worked the best for me. Elona can be done with zoomed-out alone.
Tyria could be done with zoomed-out alone before the GW:EN update, think it still is possible, but it became harder.
