How do you get from Shing Jea Island to the Echovald Forest?

Via Seitung Harbour. There is an NPC there who can transport you to the mainland if you don't have any towns outside of Shing Jea Island.

However, this is only possible after you have completed the Zen Daijun mission and are up to sailing to the mainland in the storyline.

Once you reach the mainland (in Kaineng City) you must progress through the main quests and mission sequence. This will take you to Echovald Forest in time. You cannot skip ahead.

^ Like Lafayette said. In order to get to the Forest, you MUST play through the storyline (you can't get run like in Phrophecies due to locked doors that will restrict your access to certain places). You have a LONG way to go before you can get to the forest (over half of the factions storyline).

Oh, you can still do alliance battles now though from your guild hall (if you wish to fight for the luxons or kurzicks right now).
