Getting Masters of Ruins of Morah with Hero/Hench team

I am looking for some pointers on achieving Masters on the Ruins of Morah mission with a hero and henchmen team. I have searched through the boards and wikis and tried the various strategies but always seem to come short by a few seconds and was wondering if anything had changed with Varesh’s behaviour in regards to pulling her away.

I am a warrior and would appreciate if you could give me some advice especially if you managed to get masters recently. I have been using Zhed with a SF build or Ineptitude and mesmer ele combo, Master of Whispers with a Spoil Victor enfeeble build, Morghan with Shields Up and support build, Menhlo, Kihm, Devona and Odurra.

Is this the best strategy for Masters with henches:
- flag everyone at the door and try to get Varesh #1 to follow me
- reflag everyone at the door and repeat #1? (but then I have trouble pulling her and aggro other groups)

The issue with the second part is that there are spawns near us that agro. It is just that I am not waiting long enough for them to wander towards the center? Will they wander towards the center and eventually allow me to pull Varesh #2.

Oh and this is in Normal Mode

I could just pay a runner but I want to do this myself or my Protector title won;t mean as much to me. Any help would be appreciated.

Sack the SF ele - will run out of energy fast, and 1* SF doesn't do much damage. Replace with an air build - a few spammable attacks and fast blinding flash / enervating charge. Keep the SV necro and bring Morgahn with whatever. Keep an eye on your heroes' bars and make sure they're using what you want them to use. If they're doing weird stuff, then disable some non-essential skills.

As warrior, you're not going to be doing too much that's massively useful in this mission - aggro probably won't stick on you, and the necro and ele will probably do more damage. So spend some effort on marshalling your team instead and make sure they're working properly. Bring a hard res and some team buffs. It's also nice to chain Shield's Up! with Morgahn - which will take a lot of the sting out of paragon Varesh's attacks.

Varesh is a bit harder to pull now, but it is most definitely possible. Most reliable way I have found is to go down far enough for her to run towards you, then wait and let her get a hit in on you, and slowly start to pull away. She runs back quickly if you retreat too fast. You have loads of time for masters if you're avoiding the mobs, so be patient and don't panic if it seems to take a couple of attempts to pull her all the way up. The demons patrol in a circle around the centre, so you can't wait for them to go towards the middle, you have to pull Varesh all the way up to the top to avoid fighting them. I have accidentally aggroed one demon patrol and still got masters before, so it's not the end of the world if you do.

OK thanks for the reply I will try it as you suggested.

I was getting frustrated because I can do the mission no problem it's just getting Master on this one (the only one I am missing from having all 3 protector titles and I have always sucked at timed missions ).

Keeping my fingers crossed and will try your suggestions

A note is that if you flag your team on the FAR end of the map (there is a closed gate opposite of where your team begins) after killing Varesh the first time, it may be easier to avoid the demons (they are generally farther from this door than from the door you spawn by). Though Varesh will be farther away from there, I think.

I can't help you much with Varesh number two as I'll admit I hired a runner after getting owned by her second form about 5 times (I learned from past experience, namely my first character having to take about 15 attempts to beat Ring of Fire, that you should not be overly persistent unless you're aiming for that).

Varesh number one is a pain for heroes/henchies, namely because they won't run out of her vortexes. If she is chasing you, stay fairly far from other party members so they aren't caught in it. That or flag the entire party away from the vortex, though that may take longer.

Flag everyone next to the gate. I am not sure if henchmen run out of the vortex if they are unflagged, but I generally unflag them once Varesh 1 comes.

Not bringing any melee npc helps with Varesh 2. Aggro her deep into your corner. You may have to deal with one additional demon group. Having no melee npc also means you can avoid aggroing additional patrols. Focus all your damage on the demons, and not Varesh 2.

Have Morgahn mitigate as much damage from Varesh 2 as possible. I brought Sousuke and Zhed as SF nukers, as well as Cynn and Herta. The two henchmen monks.

I was playing a Paragon so I was mitigating a lot of her damage as well. That keeps the monks and casters alive. You might need to have more robust heroes if you cannot reduce the damage.

Succeeded after about 4-5 tries, usually ended up with Elite.

Thanks for all your replies and help. I finally got it! My 3rd Protector title, it may not be much for lots of the people who frequent this forum and others but I don't get to play as much so it's quite an achievement for me.

She aggroe'd easily is her fisrt incarnation and in her 2nd I could not avoid a couple of demon groups but I got her in the end around the 6 minute mark

I brought MoW with Spoil Victore and enfeeble, Shed with Ineptitude and blinding flash, Razah with Dissonance, Shadowsong, Earthbind, Serpent Quickness and also no other melee characters/henches other than myself. I carried Signet of of Judgment and Bane signet so she was basically blinded and knocked down a good part of the time.

What took the longest was to pull her properly in her 2nd incarnation.

Thanks for your help guys it was greatly appreciated.

For others: I played E/Mo pure smiting with signet of judgement. Zhed had the same build. Other heroes were two monks: half smite half heal also with the SigoJ. Rest filled with monk henchies, P and R.

Flag at the door after killing her the first time. Then repeat at 2nd time :P
