GW:EN's graphics
Clord
GW:EN's graphics like models and skins looks like to be more detailed than in all those chapters. Charr got actual fur, fires do clear heat effect and lighting looks like improved.
Anet give those Charr in Prophecies, proper fur too then and heat to fireballs etc.

The login screen is already playing havoc with my older graphics card...
psycore
time to turn the graphics down or upgrade.
GW after all is quite old in terms of technology and its about time it got a bit of a graphical overhaul to bring it slightly in line with the current gen of tech.

Finally they're making more use of their graphics technology. Should be a welcome step imo. Can't wait to see the improvements.

Now I wonder if the old charrs in chapter 1 will get a face lift as well? At the log in screen, try zoom in really close to the fire and you'll see that new effect. I'm on gf 7900gt and my total fps dropped by about 7-10, not really noticeable and my total fps are still high.
If you remember that GWEN in game video, the burning forest bit, I wonder what will happen to the people with a lot older graphic card.

Yeah GW's engine is very scaleable, unlike Battlefield 2 etc.

I love the clear fire effect (aka how the area around fire gets "distorted" like in real life). I read somewhere GW:EN will be overhauling many graphical aspects of the game.
Personally I found Nightfall a step forward from Prophecies/Factions. Not in terms of, say, their lighting and rendering and such, but in terms of plain detail and quantity of things, such as putting more props and whatnot.
GW:EN is really bringing things up to speed.
Burning forest may be toggleable under post-processing, just like the warpish effects when drunk/looking through the portals in Nightfall.

BF2 is actually a pretty scalable engine o.O

Hopefully with all these upgrades my graphics can handle it...

It should do, it's no more intensive than the Nightfall one with the water and flame effects.

Even with all the gfx upgardes, some pieces of clothing (and hair) still vanish underwater and through grass textures....

That happens in just about every PC game I've seen.

There are some areas (one that comes to mind is the Sanctum Cay outpost) in which you can sit entirely underwater, causing hair to vanish.
Who cares? Anybody who pays attention to those little things, well, they're very observant. Which is good. Anybody who complains about them, though, they have a problem, or they are a WoW junkie who realizes GW is superior to WoW, so they find stupid reasons that GW is worse than WoW.

GW's graphics although being updated, are still very far behind many games. The new mainline is Directx 10, and any of you are curious about that. Just look up cryengine 2, but make sure its Dx10 and not Dx9.

Thats for the lazy people, but just watch, be amazed. I'm not saying GW or GW2 needs graphics like that, just saying although GW does look nice, there are things a million times nicer.

That's fine, gw2 is confirmed to be DX10 supported. The new mainline isn't dx10 yet and it won't be for awhile. Not till the majority has vista and a DX10 capable videocard (geforce 8, ati's latest). Hey, I'm still on winXP w/ fx5500. Why have top notch graphics so soon if so few can run the game?
