GW:EN heroes
Well99
Are we going to get the new heroes in the first part of the game?I am curious because I like useing heroes and it is a big part of the game for me.I didnt find it on search.I might not of frame it right.Still I was wondering if someone had seen any info on it.
Neo Nugget
i bet it will be like nf. Get them as you go. No one knows for sure till the preview/release day.
My Sweet Revenga
The biggest problem is you can only use 3 heroes at a time. We already have like 10-15(?) heroes. Getting 10 more is gonna be hard to organize or keep track of.
Free Runner
Anet will no doubt be throwing heros at us everywere we go the moment we step into EotN. So you have nothing to worry about

Unless, of course, the weapons come with the Heros (like in Nightfall, but maxed).
Miral
yes you get heroes as you go. dwarf is first oen you get i believe, right as you enter the GWEN area.
darkknightkain
I hope this time the Heroes come in like the reverse order of Nightfall. The ones that were easy to get in Nightfall can leave them till late at GWEN, and the ones that were late to get in Nightfall should be obtainable in GWEN early on...
ie. please let's start with Ritualist first, then Paragon, then Mesmer, ... in this order
Weapons I already gave up... just used the /bonus ones instead. I've just created over 60~70 of those brand new "Hourglass Staff"s to outfit all those Dunkuroes, Tahlkoras, Zheds, and the rest of caster heroes. With this /bonus after all this time, I must have created over a thousand blades

so the new heroes are basically skins for us..... wow gw is all about looks... y cant they add some more slots for heroes
Eldin
What I hate is when there is a hero you hate or never use. Then a few regions later, they are REQUIRED for a primary quest or mission, and they're still level 10.
Me + Melonni = DOES NOT COMPUTE
I essentially use these heroes actively:
-Koss
-Dunkoro (bit less than usual nowadays)
-Tahlkora
-Margrid
-Sousuke
And in truth only Koss and Tahlkora have maximum weapons. Dunky-poo is currently weaponless, Margrid and Sousuke have semi-max weapons.
Not to mention I only got around to giving Tahlkora runes a few days ago.
Less heroes = easier to manage.

I try my best to make sure each of my character has ONE a fully kitted hero. It costs way too much to outfit them all.
GraceAlone
I must agree that using the /bonus weapons for the heroes has been the best thing for me. I hate trying to find just the right weapon for the build you are looking to use for on them; it's just easier to give them the bonus and be done with it. Not to mention the runes and everything else! Personally I only use a rune on a hero if I find it.
Back on topic though, Jora is said to be unlocked fairly early as she is the "box art" that Anet has been pushing.

u do know u can rip runes off heroes take away their weapons and give them to ANOTHER hero. its not like you need to outfit all of them at any one time
Lord Feathers
Myself I'd like the ability to be able to use 7 heros and myself instead of the current 3 we are allowed to use. Honestly sometimes they have more brains then those one meets in a PUG.
Curse You
I believe that there are only 6 (potential) heroes that have been shown.
Warrior - Jora
Ranger - Pyre Fierceshot
Monk - Ogden Stonehealer
Elementalist - Vekk
Mesmer - Gwen(?)
Necromancer - Livia(?)
The only heroes I really care about are my Necromancer's. He is my main character, and so his heroes get the best.
My Necromancer's Tahlkora has a rather nice set (for a hero) Totem Axe + Byzzr's Benediction. The Totem Axe I actually take from her for 55 farming, and the Byzzr's Benediction is a weapon that I have far too many of.

Preorder weapons FTW. Even with just Factions and EotN preorder weapons, I have little trouble equipping heroes.
Lauryn
I don't find it hard to equip heroes, runes and insignias drop like crazy so all of the ones i have currently unlocked (only about 6 or 7) have all their armour done and collector weapons are brilliant for heroes or using those from basic weapon merchants.
Zhed has a nice 40% HCT 40% HSR wand a focus set which only cost me 10k hehe
-
Still it would be nice to be allowed more heroes at once, it might take longer to set up but at least you know what they're doing

and GotY edition weapons aswell
skuldnoshinpu
Keep in mind GW:EN is an "expansion designed for Level 20 characters". Therefore all of the heroes will most likely already be level 20 and come equipped with maxed weapons, though not necessarily the best stats. Theoretically you'd never have to use a given hero other than for specific quests/missions that require them since you wouldn't have to level them up.

Correct , but it does cost you , the usage of your expert salvage kit. So in the same effect you may as well buy the runes and be done with it, its probably cheaper in the long run if you make use of ripping runes a lot i would think?

Actually, apart from the one use of the salvage kit, it costs nothing more as you always have 100% chance of salvaging from hero armour as you can't break it

See, I like that idea.
Not due to PUGs but mainly as heroes work better for me then henchies and I can better equip my heroes item and skill wise.

I think we'll meet Jora rather quickly, as she's the promotional character. Maybe even before Ogden.
I had no idea the Necro had been named, until I saw this http://gw.gamewikis.org/wiki/Livia
A Shining Blade Necro? I wonder how she and Olias get along... (Olias is ex-White Mantle, right?).
Off Topic - It's very strange going through Kryta again and knowing the White Mantle are evil. Actually, it makes you wonder if King King Adelbern was right not to trust them...
EDIT: Fixed erroneous Shining Spear references...
xBakox
Actually Olias I thought was ex-White Mantle. And yeah she was described in some hero thing on some website. The others there included some Asura, King Jalis Ironhammer, and the Golems. So she isnt "confirmed" as a hero I dont think but Id still bet on it.

In retrospect, he was, albeit he did it for the wrong reasons...

They're going to have to find a better way of organizing heroes for us to manage better.
Fergalicious92
Yes we will be getting lots of new heroes in GW:EN even though I wish that they would give us the ability to put more heroes in our party.... but thats besides the point. as for stocking them up, use the pre order weapons . Hourglass staff works like a charm.

See we have another who wants to add more heroes to their party. I enjoy a good team as much as the next guy but sometimes it's very rewarding to beat the thing yourself. Just you and the heroes you command !
I would have to agree on one other comment in the thread as well in that we will have many to pick from and it seems like it's just a way of ANET saying here is your choices pick the ones you like and the look your going after.

I don't agree with people who say they would prefer less heroes. If you have the funds to rune heroes up, it's a pain if you need them to do a job other than that which you've originally set them up to do. For instance, if you only have Olias and set him up as MM...then decide you need an SS necro...unless you went to the trouble of runing him up all over again you're missing out on potential damage.
Multiple heroes means you can set them up with different builds...for instance, all my Dunkoros are healers, all Tahlkoras are protectors. Ogden Stonehealer will be my new kick-ass noob-smiting monk! If we get a 3rd necro I can have a Death, Curses and Blood necro. If we get a 2nd Rit I can have a Spirit Spammer and a Channeler. Then there will be no need to switch builds from time to time.
Also to those people who worry about kitting them out with weapons, the bonus pack items are fantastic for that job...if you have it that is.

What's the max party size gonna be anyway? If it still 8 then I have no problem with just 3 heroes. I always have someone to team up so 1-3 heroes each will be just fine. Would be nice if you can have 7 heroes tho, as many player would rather go alone anyway.

Outfitting heroes: Don't forget collector weapons.
