Eye of the North "Sneak Peek Weekend"
lutz
Like all of the other campaigns (e.g. Factions, Nightfall) the public always had access to the Sneak Peek weekend; those who bought the prerelease, however, were able to get in the Sneak Peek earlier.
My question is, for EOTN, is everyone going to be able to get in Sneak Peek weekend (and just a little bit later than the prerelease people) or do you have to buy the prerelease to even get a glimpse at the game?

Only the people who got the prerelese are going to be able to see it.... and who cares the pre is like 5days before the real relese
Njaiguni Blaze
24th of august. Also, I bought the Pre-release Bonus Pack in a store around the corner. When GW:EN comes out I can turn in my receipt and they'll take the price of the pre off of the price of GW:EN. Even if they didn't, E5,- (about $4,-?) that's like, a hamburger and a milkshake, not a fortune.
Uber Mass
Tho the difference with this weekend is that you can keep all items
Etta
Yep, everything you gain from preview weekend, weapons, staffs, heroes etc, will be there or unlock for you when the game goes live. Unlike the older preview events where everything got deleted at the end.
Drop of Fear
wondering what's the % of gw:en available during the sneak peak weekend.
3 full days, if the game is all there i guess someone would be crazy enough to complete it all

Etta
I doubt they will allow that. My guess is it will be like in Nightfall where you get to a certain quest and the game won't allow you to go any further.
Drop of Fear
hope the area we can explore during the sneak peak is full of chests at least
doinchi
I just hope we can use our heros after the preview event is over and before the game is released. I know itso nly 5 days, but at least we will have something to do, kitting them out and stuff. I really hope they add a few Green dropping bosses around, I'd like some new GWEN skins!
WinterSnowblind
I believe they said you'd be able to explore the entire Shiverpeaks. It'll probably stop you from going any further after that, because you just know someone would manage to finish the entire game in those two days.

Is that true? I thought everyone got access to the "preveiw" at the same time in the past.
Although, buying the pre-release of Factions allowed a "head start" of the actual game (kinda like the "sneak peak" for GW:EN).
I can't remember what the pre-release of Nightfall gave us - a day headstart as well?
To answer your question, no the general public will not be able to view the "sneak peak" of GW:EN. Not only will you have to buy the pre-release, but you'll also have to own a chapter of Guild Wars as well.
GW:EN is an expansion, not a new Chapter, so all the "rules" of the past do not apply.

It gave no head start, just the two bonus weapons and an extra character slot, plus a trial key for Prophecies and Factions.

Factions had only a 1 day headstart for preorder peeps.
NF didnt they just had it where you got to preview istan.
I do believe i read somewhere about the shiverpeaks being open during the game.
I wonder if you will get something special during the preview......something like the tengu mask except....... not a mask lol.

the bigget question on my mind, is what happens to the items stuff we get during the 5 days before GWENs offically released. Do we get to use all the gold, weps, and heros we find or are they locked away in a cold storage like deal till we buy the full game?

hmmm i never thought about that. We SHOULD be able to use them since we get to keep them.....but im not sure about if theyre locked or not. Im guessing theyre not.

Quite disappointing, really. I've been involved in every event so far, and have really enjoyed the preview events particularly.
Where I've ordered my copy from don't seem to have the pre-releases available so it feels unlikely that I'll get the chance to get into the preview.
Would've been nice to have NC/AN let people who've bought the rest of the series entrance into the event.

Here Finland www.puolenkuunpelit.com, give Guild Wars pre-order packs free with pre-order.
So it is "free playable preview" for me and all else who got GW:EN from that online place.

Other stores like gameplay are giving out the pre-orders as part of the full release - you get the codes e-mailed to you at some point.
GD Defender
Anet has already stated that all the content gained in GW:EN during the preview will be available after the expansion is released and back online. Did no one read the site? :l
Direct quote says:
"Players who pre-order Guild Wars: Eye of the North will gain access to the Sneak Peek Weekend, August 24–26, 2007, where they will be able to log into the game for a first look at Eye of the North. Players will be able to explore the Far Shiverpeaks region of the world, home of the barbaric Norn. Everything players obtain during the Sneak Peek Weekend, including items, XP, Heroes, and loot, will be permanent and available when the expansion goes live."

Why are people complaining about a sneak peak that allows us to keep stuff we find?
The earlier "previews" were all garbage compared to this opportunity!
And if you think the preview events help determine whether you buy the game or not:
a) you can still spend $5 to try out GWEN.
b) Factions preview was nothing like the horrible first half of the game stuck in the City. (shudder)
c) Nightfall gave no inkling to the mass deserts we would face after Istani.

I have just one question,
WHO OR WHAT WILL GET TO KILL US ON THE LAST HOURS OF THE PREVIEW EVENT?
There was a big disappointment during the Nightfall preview event when nothing appeared thus breaking tradition. I strongly doubt ANET will not make the same mistake twice. Knowing this shall we expect a few destroyers? a large rolling ball of fire that instant kills? the Mursaat in their wrath? the Asura? (that would be funny)
As for items HERO's etc, I strongly suspect you will have those items locked for the following five days. That is nothing to complain about since it will be an incentive to buy the game and use the items you found or unlocked. SO IF YOU COMPLAIN ABOUT IT GROW UP.

Maybe Gwen will come again and destroy us all?
Guild Wars goes full circle...

Yes, we must be killed in some glorious fashion!
/me cracks tiny whip
You gonna doo eet! Kill us!
Here's an idea. The Raven from the preview. I think it was a Raven.
It just swoops down saying 'never more' and people are banished to the mists.
Or it can say 'up your hootie!'. That's from El Mundo Del Lundo.

It'd be classic if Gwen did it. She could even say something adorable like "Oops I did it again."
I'm still hoping for a giant rollerbeetle, though.

I don't have a credit card so I may have to find one to borrow should I not be able to source a pre-release pack.
There's also the point of me actually liking to have a physical thing.
