Price of GW:EN in Australia
Nida
living in a rural area, I have been searching online for a place from wich to purchase GW:EN. I have found 3 prices thus far, rangeing from $49.95 to $80.95. I took the time to contact our "local" Leading Edge computer store, and see if they were able to shed some light, and was duely informed that they can supply the game at the recomended retail price of $89.95. I then made a long distance phone call to EB games, and asked them how much the game is selling for from them , and was told yes, the price on the website IS correct, and they dont understand why other companies are selling it for so much.
Does EB Games have some kind of contract where they are able to buy the game and therfore supply it to the public for close to half of what other stores are charging?
here are some links to Australian websites I have found and what they are charging people for the game. FOrtunately for me, I have relatives close to an EB Games store, and they will go buy my game for me - I am damned if Im going to pay $90 for a game that should only be costing me $50.

verry irritated about this.

verry irritated about this. Short answer is Yes. Anet has agreed to trade there game/s via EB games, it's said to be an exclusive title for EB games. The reason your paying so much is nodoubt other stores are buying off of EB or online sources and then selling on to you, tacting on a nice little increase for themselves.
$49.95 is the correct price for the expansion.
And don't let the irritatedness get to u too much, Australians get <bleep>ed over by Anet alot.

verry irritated about this. Yeah, if only they'd get that through their head and revise the pricing in the Online Store.

Have you considered mail order from the closest city/EB to you? Only problem there is you probably wont get the game until after release. I know the EB's here in Adelaide do it so I don't see why they wont anywhere else.

I live in Melbourne, and if you email me your details I'd be happy to buy you a copy and send it out if eb's won't do it through store... If you do it through Australia Post express you should get it the very next day, which might even be a little more efficient than getting a store to send it out.
PM me if you're interested and you can make sure I'm not a serial killer or a stalker or anything and I'll give you my email.

Educated guess - considering it's $39.99us, it's likely going to be $69.99au. $20 cheaper than a standard game, but still more expensive than a standard expansion.

It's $49.95AU at EB Australia.
If converted straight from US dollars, it's about $46AU

thank you so much for your offer. My husband's family are in Melbourne, but were useless when I asked them to get me NIghtfall, and my family is all in Canberra, where there is 2 stores, and they are more than happy to go do it for me - they are going to pre-buy tomorrow infact. I did call a few EB stores in Melbourne asking if I could somehow send them money and them mail me the game, and they all said no. ALso living in rural area, express post takes 48 hours to get here not 24... it sucks like that for living this lifestyle..

Mr.Deflok
If you wanted to use GP then their New Zealand counterpart has it for $59.95NZD - http://www.gpstore.co.nz/Games/1544698.html
I'm getting it from EB at the same price.

As I said, it was a guess. I hadn't seen any prices up yet in Aussie dollars, and I expected it to be a bit more expensive than a regular expansion pack.

Yeah its definitely $49 here in Melbourne at EB.
I can't believe it is almost a straight Aussie dollar conversion from the US price. I expected a large mark up typical of Aussie games...nearly fell over when the EB guy said $49.
Anyone know of the price in the Online store, I looked a few days ago but couldn't find it. Have NC finalised it yet?

Its £17.99GBP here in the UK... So I make that $36.50USD or $42.39AUD.

It annoys me; but not much to do about it.

Yeah, if only direct conversions worked, we wouldn't be paying $89.99/$99.99 for an average game.

It annoys me; but not much to do about it. In fairness to Anet they have done a lot better then other developers, I wont complain because I got to play NF on release and will no doubt EotN, I wont go on to say what happened to Factions however . While I'm on the subject how about an exclusive mini or something for us aussies (wishfull thinking)

Yeah true, that quote is from GAME and Game Station in store.

The GW Online Store is also £24.99 which equates to ~$58AU. Wonderful, isn't it?

Cheaper to buy in a EB @ $49.95 AUD.
Always buy most of my games @ EB. For no apparent reason other than they usually have everything .

I've grown disillusioned with EB since getting messed around with the Factions preorder box. To be honest, I think the outlet I was going to (Civic, to be precise) was messed around just as much, but it was still the company doing the messing even though it wasn't the salespeople I directly interacted with.

EB are so incompetent with GW preorders (among other things) that I doubt NcSoft gives them any information on the pre order packs at all.

I think its more so that NcSoft and Anet don't give EB any information. The EB guys seem to think GW2 is coming out sometime in december. And EB as a chain of stores doesn't interact well. I went into my local saying how others down south had already got pre-orders, There reply was who ever told me is a lier, because that don't have the packs nor are they likely to get the packs. Same store different time of day an old friend is working, tell me that the store manager like to keep 80% of the promotional and pre-release stuff for his own purposes.

Only preorder they haven't stuffed up was the Nightfall one - but that didn't need to be supplied in advance of the game itself!
EB Games are great for in-stock items and ordering normal warehouse items, they have some wonderful sales (seen both Factions and Prophesies down to $25 over the last 3 months), but they're absolutely hopeless for anything that is supposed to have a preorder bonus.
I did try asking the local EB Games before ordering the preorder pack from NCSoft's store and got the "we've already given out all of the first shipment, and don't know whether we'll get any more" (less than a week after the preorder became possible and they're out? Suuure...). Given my past experience, that adds up to a "good luck getting it", and with no Collector's Edition it just meant that there was no benefit in preordering from EB!
Don't blame NCSoft/ANet for EB's incompetence in Australia - I highly doubt that it's actually their problem.

EB ftl. EB, as well as a number of other games stores and the like, has a tendency to "guess" release dates for major titles and present them as fact - probably in an effort to get people to put down money on a preorder.

"We went on a holiday,here's $100 dollars"
But I did make up an excuse just incase involving my sister getting free 40 dollars every week and me getting nothing >.> so unfair in my house :'(
