Your Going Home In An Ambulance

Hi, my warrior is currently on 98% exploration of tyria and I can't seem to find anymore uncovered land! I am currently kicking myself with frustration lol because i am so stuck as to what to do about it. I just wondered if anyone had any ideas/advice or strategies on how to get that last 2%. please someone help me!

you may need to start scraping every area again... it sucks, and that's why when i started with factions and nightfall, i started scraping from the beginning, unlike with tyria (man that was painful).

There are maps in the tyrian section that you can compare yours to to see what you've missed. I'd much rather do that then modify my GW.

There's a very good page on wiki that will advise you on places you can get to in Tyria that are a bit fiddly, such as the Rurik track in the Frost Gate mission, or the large area in the east of Dunes of Despair (impossible to map if your party is doing the mission). There are also glitch areas in maps like Talus Chute. The other campaigns don't have nearly so many of these quirks, but Tyria is full of them. Read up and make sure you have them all - some can give you up to 1%.

If you're only on 98%, there must be a lot you have missed. Have you been scraping tightly all the outer edges of maps? Have you found all the space not just in explorable areas, but in missions and towns/outposts? Not that it's not just about uncovering fog. You can uncover a piece of fog, and not get 0.1% - likewise you can get 0.1% without uncovering a piece of fog. I've got both the Tyrian and the Canthan GMC without using such fog visibility mods, as I don't think they'd help much unless you had missed areas in the middle of maps. Whether or not you are running the mod, you'd still need to to the same thing.

Best approach IMHO is to kill everything in an area then slowly and carefully scrape the edges. I'm doing this on Hard Mode in NF to get Vanquisher at the same time as Cartographer. This way, you can concentrate on covering all of the map and not missing anything because stuff is rudely trying to kill you!

Good luck, and remember that there is quite a large buffer in Tyrian GMC (if you got everything you'd be on 102% or more) so you will get this eventually!

This is a pretty useful guide. It helped me to get 100%. It gets really hard after 99%

You ever have to clean up after a Moa bird?

I've heard a lot of people say that Canthan GMC is the hardest one of the three to get.

Well, I've had the Canthan GMC for some time now, and that was plenty (Can only have one title showing anyway.) for me... until they introduced Legendary Cartographer.

Now I'm working my way through the last of Tyria, and my eyes are crossing! Cantha might've been harder, but it sure was less tedious. Tyria is just so big. The differences in the new GW:EN map didn't help, either.

I think I'm going to die before finishing. ^_^

So, I wish all of my fellow Tyrian explorers the best of luck!

In photoshop, have you overlayed your clean (no clouds) M map or U maps on a 100% map and used the difference mode in the layers palette? Works really well with Tyria maps. You can also click your top layer on and off quickly to see the differences.

This 100% madness is so tedious to obtain. The last 2% is harder than the first 98% explored. Hugging everything in sight is downright tedious. If you reach 100%, you have my congrats.

Everyone saying that Tyrian is so hard....have you opened up all that map at the top of Great Northern Wall? There are so many quirks in the Tyrian map, just make sure you've ticked them all off.

By the way, Tyrian really is the most generous of the three. I ground and scraped every last millimetre of Cantha when I did it, I had the Boardwalk, all of both sides of the Jade Quarry and Aspenwood (very hard to get) and, even then, I think if I'd kept going after 100% then I might have got a virtual 100.3% maybe. There really wasn't much margin for error.

With Tyria, I left Ice Floe right to the end because I considered it the toughest area (Mursaat bosses and Ice Imps) and in the run up I went back to places like Ascalon and scraped all the walls. In the end I hit 100% before I even got properly into Ice Floe and it was a massive area that could have yielded me another 1-2%. So there really is this much safety margin.

The problem is with this title, it really IS about grind. There just isn't a way to cut corners or buy it with ebay gold. You have to be prepared to go back to maps that *look* fully explored but that you *know* deep down you haven't really scraped. Bear in mind that it's quite a good way of farming, and if it seems tedious, play the areas on Hard Mode, Vanquish them and get the Locked Chests for other titles.
