Limit same primary professions in a party
silenx
I came with this idea a long ago, and i think it could be cool to revolutionize the meta: limit same primary professions in a party of 8 by 3 maximum.
This could stop some abuses some gimmicks like 8 Ritualists, 8 Necros, 5/8 Paragons...etc...
For example, say that you wish to run Rit Spike:
Rt/x
Rt/x
Rt/x
Rt/x
Rt/x
Rt/x
Rt/x
Rt/x
You can only have this:
Rt/x
Rt/x
Rt/x
y/x
y/x
y/x
z/x
z/x
That's only an idea, but i think it could be interesting.

Or anet could just do a skill balance.

There are legitimate builds revolving around 2 fire eles, a water ele, and an earth ele in HA. Also, the 4 thumper-4 monk GvG split is another example of a pretty legitimate build that needs more than 3 of any profession.
Changing that number up to 4 won't solve many problem either. Plus, stuff like rangerspike can still be used. Skill balance > other restrictions.

/notsigned. As other people have said, restricting playing style won't fix the various imbalances. Since you mentioned Ritspike I'm sure you're thinking of PvP, but sometimes PvE pugs are unbalanced that way. I once joined a party that consisted of myself (derv), a hero monk, and 6 necros. It was an odd time at night so there was nobody else around, and nobody wanted to use hench/hero anymore, so we decided to make it work. We weren't a very efficent group (everyone wanted to be MM at first and there were times when I was laughing so hard I couldn't even see), but damn if we didn't have fun. Got master's, too.
Besides, some guilds just like to do "gimmick" party builds for fun. I remember overhearing someone suggesting a party of 8 W/E with hamstring and fire storm (or whatever it's called... the rain of fire skill). Stuff like that is hilarious, and even if the group loses, they had fun.
Please don't kill that when a few skill adjustments could fix the broken team builds.

/signed, but only for HA/GvG
i can't tell you how much i hate running into the various ritspike, thumper, airspike, sfspike, and bloodspike lameness in GvG. those team builds just make a mockery of skill balance because there is no way to fix it without making the skills they're using null and void for every other legitimite purpose.

When i mencioned the limited party, i was thinking in PvP, not PvE, so, yes, only for GW PvP.

lol /notsigned so the only team allowed in ha is balanced.... hum that kinda kills strategy and makes gw much much more like wow.... doesn't it....

It is sometimes fun to take all of one class into a zone or mission and watch the mayhem. I especially like taking several eles out with AoE and watch the monsters run around like chickens with their heads cut off. This is even more true if that particular monster gave me extra problems when I first started playing the game (Charr/Gnashers). So,

The idea was in GvG/HA, not PvE...

For every build there is a counter-build

Our balanced team build yesterday revolved around 5 monks.
As aforementioned, it's called skill balance.
